Had a brilliant stay from Friday to Tuesday this weekend. 4mins walk from the train station (which is only 30mins from the station at the airport) and we were welcomed by a very smart and contemporary looking hotel. Room was far better than we expected, better than some 5* hotels I have been to with regards to decor and furniture, etc. I guess you can class it as small but had enough room to do everything we want, you dont really need a lot of space when you're in and out.. just comfort which we got.
Bed was huge, seemed larger than a King, large sink for 2, walk in shower (no bath), really good aircon and wifi. Was facing the road on the 2nd floor but didnt have a problem with noise at night although it is a main road (didnt stay there in the day). Cleaned and turned overy everyday.
Pool area was a highlight, was fuller over the weekend days. The sun fills the whole terrace at around 1030 but I still got a bed at that time. On the Monday we had the place all to ourselves. Yes the pool is small but Im not there to practice for the Olympics, just cool down after sun bathing. The large mattressed beds are a nice touch to relax on.
Location; took us a good 20-25mins to walk to top of La Rambla or the Cathedral. It wasnt too bad, even in the heat but we still found ourselves getting a cab back for a very reasonable 6-7 Euros. 8-10 Euros to get to the beach as that is a bit of a longer walk, although we did it one day.
Didnt pay for breakfast upfront but paid for it on the first day for convenience, was 19 Euros for 2 people which was a little steep although was very nice and plenty of choice. We went directly opposite for the rest of the time to a cafe run by 2 very nice chinese ladies and got full english's for 11-12 Euros including drinks. Although there are plenty of other cafes around and on route to the centre (getting more expensive the closer you get there!)
Would stay there again if I ever go back to Barcelona, felt it was very cheap for what we got. Our friends stayed at the Serhs Rivoli on La Rambla which is a 4* and didnt have a pool and they paid more than us staying for 2 nights than we did for 4 here!
