Been many places in Spain and Europe. Fully understand European way. Husband and I stayed 3 nights. Only good thing location, therefore, didn't have to spend too much time in musty old hotel. Don't let pictures fool you. Pictures had to have been taken with a VERY large zoom lens wearing rose colored glasses. First room musty, floor rotted, peeling wallpaper. If this wasn't bad enough there were even termites -WHAT! Second room good size, still did not represent internet presentation. Staff could care less - totally disinterested. Housekeeping were the nicest and friendliest people we encountered - tried their best to make stay comfortable. Put it this way, husband made me promise not to make a fuss to the front desk as things were bad enough. Then went for a cocktail (or two) lol to decompress. Good Luck to you if you end up here. Book in, shut up, get out, go for a drink, come back only when necessary, and you can't find the fountain in the plaza square to take a bath due to too many cocktails and the dread of going back.

First time to Barcelona and loved it.....the hotel could not have been in a better position. However, our room left a lot to be desired ! A 'small' twin room is an under statement we decided to aim low that way we wouldn't be disappointed.....but we were ! If the room had been a little bigger it would have made all the difference, it was more suited to a single traveller....not two friends who would have appreciated a little more personal space.
The breakfast was 'interesting' but not a total let down...if you chose carefully. Lots of different nationalities and tastes to cater for.
The lifts were infuriating and did not service the six floors and many rooms. The staff were ok the cleaners were hardworking and thorough. Would I go back there....maybe .....in a different room and able to get up and down without having to use the lifts !!

We stayed four nights at this dated and poorly equipped hotel. The hotel staff were quite indifferent to anything anyone was saying to them and it was all quite public with some customers complaining at the front desk. The room was small and dated, had no bar fridge, the heating and cooling didn't work so the room was ridiculously hot all the time to the extent that even on a cold and raining night we had to sleep with a window open and covered with just a sheet, and you could also hear people using the bathroom in surrounding rooms. The electrics in the room were sizzling and had a smell of ozone so we brought this to the staffs attention and all we got was a shrug and told it was nothing. I insisted something be done about it and later returned to the room to find wires "IN" the bed but the problem stayed the same. The breakfast wasn't the best but eatable and the breakfast room was packed full of people with bumping and pushing etc. There was an extra charge to use the wifi and the safe, and there was no shampoo, conditioner etc, just soap and a shower cap. The location however is great and that is really the only reason I have given this hotel two stars. Even for a budget hotel it fails to meet basic customer needs but if you just want a place to sleep (with earplugs like we did) in a central location you'll be fine.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better coming out of reception Rambles to the left gothic quarter to the right surrounded by bars restaurants and cafes don't bother with the breakfast weird cooked food not at all appetising, better is the continental, set down in the cellar rustic Spanish decor not bad! But like I said don't bother. The first room we were given was an interior with the window opening up to what is basically an ventilation shaft tiny room so hot. I was straight down to reception asking for another room I had requested on booking a view, straight away I was given room 102 on the same floor, two Juliet balconies with views to the front street and behind a large square with cafes and music what we came to Barcelona for! We seemed to be the only UK residents staying here though I like a mix of nationalities. The reception staff were very helpful perfect English and polite. This hotel could benefit from free wifi in reception and bar (downstairs) otherwise no facilities to speak of. lovely bathroom impressive shower all areas very clean but floor landings very tatty.

Room Tip: Ask for room 102

Hotel Rialto has been given three stars; these are found behind the reception desk. Hotel service is poor. The customer going to the desk typically meets as many as three staff members ("the three stars") whose combined attitude varies from unprofessional negligence and unfriendliness to indifference and blaming (in case of real customer problems). The lift has outdated technology, so riding it is worse than roulette - you never guess where you end up. - The breakfast room is crowded and noisy, and the breakfast is not prepared of fresh ingredients as it should be. Also, here you will get no special diet food if you happen to be allergic and must ask the staff to provide you some. - On the bright side, this hotel has a very good location, which is the only thing the hotel staff obviously cannot spoil.

Room Tip: Get one in the top floor, if possible!
