The hotel was dirty, there was no wather in the room, the elevators did not worked, the reception workers were rude, the service was bad. The windows rooms are opened for another building with too much noise. Some rooms was not acessible by the lifts.

Stayed at the Hotel Rialto in Jun 2012 for a 3 day break in Barcelona. We managed to get a cheap last minute deal direct through the hotel website - 51Euros per night, which when split between 2 people is equal to the cost of a hostel and infinitely better.
It was a fairly basic room in terms of decor, but had wardrobe, drawers and TV. The bathroom was fine with a good shower and comfy beds - what more do you really need when on a city break. Our room faced the inside so was really quiet too.
The location is fantastic - just a few hundred yards from La Rambla main street, and a metro station at either end of the street made getting around really easy. As its on a fairly main pedestrianised street we felt safe coming back really late at night. Lots of shops and restaurants a stones throw away.
Can't comment on breakfast as we were RO, it did look expensive on the menu, but all hotel breakfasts are. Dont need it when you can step out and find a pastry shop for a coffee and croissant or head to La Boqueria indoor market.

Room Tip: Inside facing is quiet, but not good if you want a view!

We are budget travellers and have previously stayed in Barcelona at the Transit and Oasis which are owned by the same company. The Rialto was booked on our behalf as part of a cruise package with Cruise1st .
I was looking forward to a little more luxury as the hotel was much more pricier than our usual budget .
The reception area was big with comfy seating but wifi charges expensive.
We were given a room at the back of the hotel which we found after going through the rabbit warren of corridors, lighting came on automatically as you moved along. The room was a decent size with firm bed , decor was a little dated and the hairdryer in the bathroom was of the old fashioned tubular style. The room was quiet being at the back of the hotel.
We had breakfast included which was great, plenty of choice, hot and cold food and good coffee.

We liked the location of the Rialto , lots of bars/restaurants on the same street but we prefer the rooms at the Oasis as they are modern if you have one of the superior rooms. Oasis is better located for transport links between airport and the city being close to Franca train station but breakfast was far superior at the Rialto. If there was only a minimal cost between the two hotels I would go with the Rialto mainly for the breafast.

Room Tip: If peace and quiet is important rooms at the back are quiet but there is no view .

This was our first time visiting the city. First of all, the check in was quick and we were given our room straight away. The first room we were allocated was right next to the lift shaft, which was claustrophobic and didn't have any windows. After speaking to the reception staff they gave us a key to a room on the top floor to view, to see if we preferred it to our current room. This room was much nicer with two balconies and a spacious bedroom and bathroom.

If you need help with anything at all the receptionists are very helpful. You can book tours of the city and tickets for the football from the front desk.

The room was very clean and housekeeping came daily, changing towels when needed. Breakfast was fine, a great mixture of choices and plenty of choices of drinks. There was also a choice to eat lunch and dinner in the hotel at an extra cost. The aircon/heating system was very good.

The niggly bits:
-The hotel can be noisy at night but we slept through it fine after all the days activity.
-Barcelona's sewage system is not as good as England's and you should bare that in mind. Sometimes you can smell the drains in the hotel, but you can smell it all around Barcelona.
-The shower pressure is very low
-A hair-dryer is provided, but its not very good
-There is no fridge in the room. A bit annoying when trying to keep drinks cool.

The location:
The hotel was perfectly located. If you turn left out of the hotel you will find yourself on la ramblas. If you turn right and then left up a street you end up in the Gothic quarter. There are two metro stations very close by one on La Ramblas (Liceau) and one which we didn't use near the Gothic Quarter. Liceau station is a 5 minute walk and is on the L3 line which takes you to Les Corts where Barcelona football stadium is located. (Buy a T-10 ticket for travel for 9.80 Euros. This gives you 10 trips which last a year, to share on the buses and the metro). You can walk to all of the main sites within half an hour, however its much easier and quicker to use public transport (and quite fun!). The beach is about a 15 minute walk away and there are many supermarkets and restaurants around the hotel.

For a 3* hotel, Hotel Rialto exceeded my expectations. BOOK IT.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor. If you have a room next to the lift shaft without windows don't hesitate...

The perfect locations, right off the las ramblas, with 2 metro stations. But be careful of the noise if your looking for quiet and piece. The hotel is a standard 3 stars so yo cant fault them except that everything was good including the generous breakfast on offer. But like many places even if youved booked and paid taxes via a hotel booking company, there is still a sneaky tourist tax per night, not alot approx 1 euros a night per person. We thought we paid that already, i think most tourists do, if they had not then then the hotel booking agency usually mentions that in the fine print. So it seems the hotel might be charging tourists twice becUSE they wont say anytging and pay up.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room!

In the Gohtic quarter, very close to The Ramblas and lot of Barcelona main sites. There is also a Metro station nearby. The Hotel itself is OK. The room was clean and with a good size. Stuff was Ok. Not bad but not very friendly. Wifi only in lobby and need to pay for it (By the way, most areas in Barcelona are coverde by City free Wifi. Try to connect where you are in an open space).
Safe box in the room is available but you have to pay fo it also...
And breakfast was Ok...
So... The best of Rialto is the location, and this is very convenient if you are most of the day touring the city...
