Our needs for a hotel are simple. Clean, convenient and friendly. Raco Del Pi scores on every count. Our room was clean and well fitted out. The. Hotel is situated right in the middle of the old quarter close to the Gothic Cathedral and the main shopping area. The staff answered all our questions. However if you are driving there I wouldn't recommend it. However, Plane and train connections are all close.

First trip to Barcelona and picked this hotel for location and from reviews. Check-in was easy and the staff have excellent English and give you great recommendations as to what to see and do without seemingly sending you off on packaged/commission paying tours. We were able to walk 15-20 mins or so to all the sites we wanted to get to. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to eat it including a patisserie across from the hotel that does a pastry and coffee for a couple of euros which is a good cheap option for breakfast. Rooms and bathroom are small by US standards but more than adequate. They have a PC for printing off boarding passes in the lobby and Wi-Fi was free. The front desk staff are superb though and made the trip easy to do.

Taxi from Airport was around 45-50 euros. There are cheaper options (bus, train) but we didn't use them.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms didn't have windows you could open and we couldn't get the temperature rig...

My wife and I have just come back from Barcelona and have to say H10 Raco Del Pi is the perfect hotel for a sightseeing trip.

Firstly we arrived at the airport and got the Aerobus to Placa de Catalunya (only 5.90 euros for a single trip and very quick and efficient). From Placa de Catalunya it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel. I printed a google map before hand so it was easy to find the hotel down one of the many side streets in the Gothic quarter, but at first it can be a bit confusing which alleyway goes where.

The reception staff were very friendly and we managed to check in early. The room we were given was very clean and smart. We had two windows with one of them looking out into a narrow alleyway. This did mean that it was only a metre or so to the window on the opposite building, but being based in the centre of Barcelona made up for not having lots of sunlight in the room (we were hardly there anyway).

The bathroom was nice and big and the shower was very good - powerful and lots of hot water. Also the breakfast was excellent. Mainly continental but still some Scrambled/Fried Eggs and Bacon for those wanting it.

As well as being close to Placa de Catalunya (were the sightseeing buses start) it also a 5 minute walk from Las Ramblas and the Metro (Liceu). We bought a T10 ticket for the Metro and then just explored - most attractions were within 4/5 stops on the tube.

At night we mainly stayed away from Las Ramblas as the food seemed a little basic and over priced, but there are still plenty of Restaurants and Tapas bars to visit around the Gothic Quarter and the Cathedral.

Overall we had a great week and staying in such a central location, at such a friendly and nice hotel definitely helped!

We have just returned from a 3 night break with friends and really enjoyed our stay at this great hotel which we rate as the top end of their 3 star rating. The location is perfect as a base to explore Barcelona, tucked away in the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter yet only 5 minutes walk from must visit places such as La Rambla, the Gothic Cathedral, Placa Reial and Placa Catalunya. The hotel is very welcoming with bedrooms and public areas being clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are somewhat on the small side but perfectly adequate with good size modern bathrooms. I imagine most visitors to Barcelona want to spend their time seeing Barcelonas amazing attractions rather than sitting in hotel rooms anyway. The restaurant offered a really good choice of breakfast, much better than we have had elsewhere in higher graded hotels. What really made this hotel special for us however was the high quality of all of the staff but particularly the staff on reception. They were all so friendly and accomodating, greeting guests with a glass of cava on arrival whilst booking in. They will recommend restaurants and provide maps to reach them and give advice on just about anything you need to know about Barcelona and nothing was too much trouble for them. We have no negative comments to make and just wish we could experience reception staff of this high standard wherever we stay but sadly this is often not the case.

Room Tip: We were on the 1st floor in rooms 108 and 109 which faced onto buildings fairly close to them at the...

Good location in the small alleyes of the Gotic quarter. Room is nice, bathroom is nice, but everything is a bit small, the bed also is about 140 cm. Everything looks recently renovated. The staff is friendly and everything is clean. We were served a glass of cava on arrival. Cant widh for more.

We chose to stay in a central location instead of hip (and expensive hotel wise) El Born so we could save on travel time. We chose the Raco del Pi based on the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor. First things first: yes, very central (both metro stop Liceu & Catalunya are on walking distance, making it very easy to get there from the airport with the Aerobus shuttle bus service, a walk down Portal d'Angel (paved shopping street), then to the right, and then it's there somewhere, in the middle of a shopping alley), and very nice staff, welcomed with a glass of cava (!), breakfast buffet includes a selection of iberico ham, chorizo, manchego cheese, and quite hospitable is the coffee corner with small sweet snacks (though we never had it as we were always out and about. The bathroom was nice with characteristic tiling. The interior was passable, not super design but quite agreeable. However, we wanted one big double bed, but got 2 beds instead AND had asked for a room overlooking the courtyard (neat, but not joyfully done) based on a tip from one reviewer. After asking, they showed my husband the rooms with the one big double bed which were much smaller than the one we had, so we settled for this one. Also note that guests like to come out to the courtyard at night, which can make it noisy... (Though you don't hear people on the street, but be prepared that on Sunday the Santa Eulalia Basilica chimes at 8:00 hrs) On the other hand, as the 36th Barcelona marathon (4th biggest in the world, approx. 20,000 runners) was on the Sunday we had to leave, I had sent an email to the hotel asking what they could tell me about the traveling options. 1 week later, still no reply. Then I submitted the same form via the hotel's website. Still no reply. Not in line with their stars I'd say. The night before we left, we met another couple who were just asking the same thing to the reception staff. Truth be told, he did his best to find out, even though I think he was already off duty. Luckily, we had stopped by the actual stop on Plaza Catalunya where the Aerobus shuttle staff there could tell us it would not be a problem. Still: it's the 36th time it's held, the hotel even has a special offer for people running the marathon. They could mention it on their website and return mails. Nevertheless, the hotel is nice & central, the staff very friendly and helpful. But I'm not impressed with the back office service level. Also, the airconditioning. They have it, it's not that noisy. But, it was only 18 degrees outside and it was VERY warm inside so wondering what that would lead to in the height of the summer.. We would rate the hotel Good though. But not very good.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are larger and there is no noise from the streets.

Dear Guest:

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion with another travellers. We love all your words about our hotel. However, we are worried for your feeling about our back office, as we are very committed in answering all the requests of our costumers. We apologize for that, and we will try to find out what happened in order to avoid it in the future.
Also, let me tell you that we have not special prices for runners in the Barcelona Marathon.
Thank you again, and we hope to see you at our hotel in your next visit.
