“Excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

We stayed here for 4 nights in January 2013. We were looking for somewhere in a central location and this hotel was ideally situated for everywhere in Barcelona. The Ramblas was 2 minutes walk away, as was the cathedral and the Barrio Gothic area. We had a good room on the top(fourth) floor. We were booked for "room only" so cannot comment on the breakfast but there were plenty of nice cafes around where we could eat. All in all a good value hotel in the heart of the action.

We received the warmest of welcome on arrival late in the evening. A welcome glass of cava was gratefully received and our receptionist, (Oriol) led us to our room on the first floor, looking on to a quiet courtyard. So, no street noise - excellent! Room was spacious enough with a large comfortable bed and a bright, spacious, well-appointed bathroom. Staff throughout our stay were cheerful, courteous and considerate. Breakfasts were copious with plenty of variety, and the best scrambled eggs and bacon ever. Tea and coffee were from a machine but tasty, and quick and easy to dispense. The hotel is perfectly located near to the Rambla and all the central attractions, and, extremely well located for the fabulously cheap airport Aerobus shuttles, which leave from the nearby Placa Catalunya. We had a great few days and will certainly return to Raco del Pi.

Room Tip: While the street outside will be quiet enough with only pedestrian traffic, I think I would always r...

I visited this hotel with my 12 year old daughter on a Christmas shopping trip. We wanted somewhere central and thought the gothic quarter would be nice. This hotel is much nicer than the pictures. The staff can't do enough for you, all speak good English (but humoured us when we tried to practice our Catalan!) the buffet breakfast was great and varied (with loads of options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike) and they have free, fresh tea, coffee and cakes in the lobby all day. A really nice touch. There is free wifi throughout the hotel and a computer on the ground floor which guests can use for free (including printing). There are no evening meals served here but it is so central that there are loads of restaurants nearby - just don't arrive really late expecting a hotel meal!

The hotel is really clean, really central and a little haven away from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona.

We returned yesterday from a 4 night stay at this lovely hotel. 3 stars: staff helpful, friendly & cheerful, hotel clean throughout, good breakfast, small bar with self-service teas, coffees & croissants all day, plenty of hot water for bath/shower, perfect location just off Las Ramblas - walk out the door and you're in shopping and pastry heaven. Great selection of tapas etc restaurants nearby. Complementary chilled cava + nibbles on arrival - very welcome.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Del Pi" and will return.
All the other guests seemed relaxed & happy. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Good value, considering the position, and we'd recommend it.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. We had an interior room so can't say if there was any street noise since it was ver quiet. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street but taxis can get to it if necessary. We walked with suitcases from the Ramblas easily. Room was average sized by European standards and well appointed. Bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.

Fantastic location situated in a narrow pedestrian street – Carrer del Pi - in the gothic quarter very close to Las Ramblas, Mercat de Sant Josep/ La Boqueria & the cathedral. Carrer del Pi has several small shops which includes a croissant shop just opposite the hotel and several small cafes. Placa de Catalunya (stop for airport bus) is about a 10 minute walk via Portal de l’Angel. Most of the major shops are in the Portal de l’Angel, Place de Catalunya and Passieg de Gracia so in easy access of the hotel, the port & metro is not too far away either.
The hotel has been fashioned from an 18th century building. As a result the rooms are quaint but well decorated. As the hotel is in the gothic area, the buildings are very close together. We stayed in room 109 on the 1st floor- same level as the courtyard. The room overlooked a side street and was very dark as it was so close to the apartments opposite. The room had a fair size wardrobe which housed a safe for which a small payment was necessary. There was a mini bar but no kettle- luckily we took our own with mugs. The beautifully tiled bathroom was fairly roomy and had a shower over the bath and a bidet. The hairdryer was disappointing as it was attached to the wall in the bathroom and had a corrugated tube attached to the head which could get a little warm when holding it – the power wasn’t great either. The freebies of soap, shower gel, shampoo, shaving cream & razor, toothbrush & paste, shower cap and shoe cleaner were great. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We did not eat at the hotel.
Would love to go back to both Barcelona and this hotel.

Room Tip: would stay in room 109 again. next time would take my own hair dryer. room was suitable for disabled...
