“Great location for a quick cruise stay”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Traveling to Barcelona the only thing we knew was to stay close to the port/ Las Ramblas. Our Cruise Advisor lead us to this quaint little hotel which we LOVED!!! It's located on a pedestrian only street, which was nice and made the stay feel 'old world' if you will. (but I love to roam through streets in beautiful places like Venice as well) - So preference maybe.

From the iron balcony overlooking a back courtyard to the city amusements - it was always nice to sit out in the late evening or early morning and to people watch comings and goings.

The first stay in this hotel went without a hitch, great room, great staff, nice amenities. Not too big - not too small. Enough to get us back a second time 2 years later - where we were given a rooftop room that we did not like because of a limited view on top of the building. When we ask for a replacement room, we were quickly moved without stress. So the staff was more than willing to accommodate what we needed very easily.

All in all - I would go back. The convenience to Las Ramblas is PERFECT - close enough for an easy walk. Far enough to get a restful sleep without noise in the streets keeping you awake. In the morning walking up, we even caught an opera singer in the pedestrian streets singing - WHAT AN AMAZING CITY BARCELONA IS!!! Love it.

Great location just off La Ramblas. Located on a quiet road but just a short walk from restaurants, shops, public transport etc. Friendly and helpful staff but hotel itself was fairly average and in need of a bit of a facelift.

Room Tip: Make sure to specify in advance if you want a non smoking room

Great location, just a few minutes off of Las Ramblas and a few minutes from the Cathedral of Barcelona. Standard sized room was small, but adequate. Hotel staff is ok - this is definitely a no-frills hotel in a great location.

This hotel was recommended by a friend who comes from Barcelona herself and was ideal for a two night stay prior to a cruise. The hotel is ideally situated in the Gothic quarter, close to Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya. Just opposite the hotel is a convenience store where you can buy water, wine, beer, etc and take back to your room.
The hotel was clean and well kept with toiletries in the bathroom and a safe and aircon in the room. Free wifi too in the hotel lobby which was welcome, and friendly and helpful staff.
We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, as the previous evening we went to a tapas bar recommended by the hotel staff which we were well impressed with and also went there for breakfast. This tapas bar is called Bilbao Berria (check out their website) and is very easy to find. When you exit the hotel turn right to the bottom of the street, then turn left. Keep to your right when you get to a make-up store in front of you called Kiko. It's at the end of the street on your right on the corner, the plaza and cathedral in front of you. It's only a 3-4 minutes walk from the hotel but well worth it. If you turn left instead as you exit the hotel then immediately right you will find other little interesting coffee places and tapas bars if you don't want to go far. We will certainly return to this hotel for a longer stay.

Perfect location for a stroll around the city. By the cathedral. Short walk to the square for the airport bus. Close to the Rambla yet on a quiet street. Upscale room. Comfortable beds. Reasonable price. Would recommend highly.

Centrally located no-frills 3 star. Standard rooms are very small, just big enough to hold the double bed. The bed itself is on wheels, and tends to roll around the small room with every body movement. The a/c is weak, and the breakfast is adequate, but, in a country abundant with fresh produce like Spain, seriously lacked fresh vegetables. Service was proffessional but uncaring and mnot especially friendly.
The main positive strength for the hotel is its location, meters awayt from the Pl. Catalunya, The Rambla, Barcelona Cathedral, and the Gothic Quarter. Personally I would not stay there again and would choose a friendlier location.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms have exits to a small balcony.

PLUS
Hotel is located 5 minutes walking from Place Catalunia. That is very goob location near many restaurant and many other points ( bus , taxi etc..) to travel across Bacelona.
Breakfast is buffet style and quality is more than average = quite good)
Staff is very helping and welcomming
little grocery right in front for snacks, beer and other small stuff

CONS
located on a very small street so many taxi drivers dont event know where it is...
no ventilation in bath rooms so moisture and odors remain for long...
no radio, no clock and TV not working ( no big deal but...)
Very small elevators so only 2 persons can get in with luggage so sometimes you have to wait
Room temperature control very har to set and to maintain...not impressive at all

WOULD I RETURN ?? yes but might try something else

.

Room Tip: pictures on the web site are much better than reality.... must have been taken when hotel was freshl...
