“Good Hotel, Great Location for a reasonable price”
Reviewed June 14, 2009

We wanted a clean safe, hotel in a good location for a good price, and that is exactly what we got. The hotel was a brief walk to Las Ramblas and was right on top of the Metro. It is a little louder due to its location on a busy street, however I'm confident comparable hotels in this location would be even louder. The rooftop pool and sundeck with incredible views of the city was a cherry on top, although the pool was really just a soaking pool. The room was pretty small, but the bathroom was big by European standards. If you don't plan on spending all day in your room, this is a great place to stay.

I stayed there for 5 days with a study abroad program and loved it. It was a central place for all of our site seeing. It was very roomy, and the customer service staff was excellent they went above and beyond in my opinion. Another plus is free internet access if your going to be gone long, Internet cafes are expensive so take advantage of that service. and great resturants and tapas bars right down the street.

Just returned from 5 nights at this hotel - had previously stayed at the 1898 in April as a treat (the same hotel group) and thought, even though it was a lot less expensive it would be of the same quality - but it was not ! We were given a room at the front of the hotel - the noise from the main road was horrendous - police cars - ambulances etc horns blazing even at 3.00 am - we asked for a room change the next day and was told that the only available rooms were in the centre of the hotel - with no natural light in them - no windows ! We had to stay where we were - so we bought ear plugs - the staff at the front desk were very aloof and never seemd to smile - the breakfast was very basic and by 10.00 am (even though it was on until 11.00) was not being replenshied as it should have been - the sun deck and swimming pool were both very small but pleasant - the rooms were clean - but no tea or coffee facilities and no iron - the beds were also quite hard - one good point the hotel is next door to a metro - so made it easy to get around - when we checked out - the only thing we were asked was did we have anything out of the mini bar - instead of did you have a pleasant stay and have a good journey home - would we stay again - no - we would save up and go back to the 1898 !!

This hotel is an amazing oasis in the midst of busy Barcelona. The rooms are spacious, clean, minimalist in decor (hardwood floors, clean lines), and the bathrooms modern and also spacious. The windows opened (always nice in a modern hotel), but we closed them at night to minimize noise. The hotel is located only a few blocks from La Rambla and immediately across the street from the Metro and funicular to Montjuic. We walked everywhere, did not rent a car and never needed a taxi. The front desk staff were very helpful and we were able to get free internet access on the hotel computers. We didn't have their breakfasts or any food there because there were so many options in Barcelona. After a busy day of sightseeing, eating, and touring, we looked forward to the peace and zen atmosphere of our room. Beds are comfortable too. Bathroom amenities aplenty.

We met friends for a birthday celebration and all of us were staying at the hotel.
We arrived at 12:00, but were told that our room was not ready, as check-in was 15:00.
We went for lunch and then to the poolside to wait for 15:00 hours. At 14:30 we came down, met some other friends checking in, but still our room was not ready. I asked for an alternative room and was told that we could have an inner room and that it would be less noisy, than the one allocated to us. Hmmn... The window looked down onto a storage area for bottles and other service items. At 07:00 on Sunday morning I was woken to Spanish radio, talking and the scraping of tables. I asked reception to see if they could stop this, but was informed that the inner rooms look over other residences that they have no control over, but he would report it to the manager. Monday dawned and so did 7am again, crashing and banging. I overheard reception telling new arrivals that their inner rooms would be quiet. Others in our group changed from inner to outer rooms and said that the street noise was bad! I know it's a city hotel, but don't pretend it isn't! A shame, because the amenities and room itself are good.

we stayed here with several other couples. We felt the location was good-not right in the middle of the tourist area, but within walking distance to La Rambla. It was a safe area with restaurants, shops, grocery stores around. The room was kept clean and was nicely decorated. We had good service from the front desk personnel. overall we had a pleasant experience here.
