“Everything we needed for a long weekend.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Stayed here for 4 nights in February. Requested a quiet room as previous reviews had suggested that the rooms at the front of the hotel were noisy and was given a room that was peaceful throughout the stay. Overlooked the city roof tops which did include the balconies of the buildings behind but we didn't mind this. Room was spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. Would have liked a few more international channels (maybe some sport) though. Good position for La Rambla and the marina. The area opposite and up the road from the hotel are a little less desirable but never felt worried by it. Breakfast was very copious and could have kept us going all day! Would have welcomed more of a bar area though for the evenings - just a few chairs in reception.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side away from the main road are quieter in general if you are a light sleeper.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel after a cruise ended in Barcelona. We booked through Hotwire and got an excellent rate, and the hotel has a fantastic location. The metro is steps from the front door, and with a 7-10 minute walk or so, you are right on the Ramblas. It was also quite close to the cruise port, we were pleansantly surprised that our taxi from there only cost 10-12 euros.

We did not eat at the hotel, but headed out one morning and walked over to the Boqueria market at the Ramblas and picked up some fresh juices and pastries for breakfast - that was a lot of fun, I totally recommend. We had 2 fantastic tapas dinners off the Ramblas, and were able to either walk back, or take the metro just 1 or 2 stops. The metro line we were on was also great - one of the main lines. It was nice to leave the somewhat far away Park Guell, hop on the metro, and just turn up at the door of the hotel.

The room was large, very clean, and sufficiently air conditioned. We were out almost all day for the 2 full days we had in Barcelona, and it was a nice hotel to return to at night. The rooftop pool and lounging area is a really nice feature. It was windy when we were there, but we had to hop in the pool anyway.

We got off our cruise ship very early, so we just dropped our bags prior to our room being ready. We had 4 bags (2 large 2 small, after a 2 week cruise) and were not charged anything to store them, as someone below mentioned. As we were packing at the end of the trip, we called to the front desk to see if they had a scale for us to weigh our luggage prior to the airport, and they almost immediately brought up a very handy luggage scale for us to use. The doorman flagged down a cab moments after we appeared to check out and head to the airport, which was great. Service overall was very good. If we return to Barcelona (hopefully!) I would not hesitate to stay here again.

As a sidenote, I believe the hotel is somewhat close to the less desirable 'El Raval' neighborhood, but we (as New Yorkers) felt fine walking around. We weren't out walking extremely late at night, but the location is definitely safe for traditional tourist hours. If you were out particularly late and concerned, you could take the metro (or a taxi) and again, arrive practically on the doorstep.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL..... As a frequent traveller and someone who knows excellence in the hospitality industry, this is not the place for anyone. First, the vibe in the lobby was very cold and rude, as were both of the men at the front desk. THey could harldly be bothered to even welcome us. So we arrived a bit before the room was ready - ok no problem. Check your bag and go for a bite to eat says the reception guy. So we go and check our bags and the porter says - that will be 3 Euros. TO CHECK OUR BAG BEFORE WE GET THE ROOM?! So I hand him a 10 Euro note and he says 'thanks.... (pause) did you want change?" Well that set me off.... so rather than go for a bite, we decided to ask if we could just cancel our reservation. The front desk guys says no, our stay is fully paid for and we would forfeit the entire 3 night stay amount. (That was a lie, that he later admitted....) So we hung around the lobby for about a half hour fuming... (and watched as the porter standing right in front of us was picking his nose - i kid you not!) ... until they gave us what the reception guy called a "good room" #214. So we get up to the room, which is facing the back courtyard overlooking....wait of it..... laundry hanging from the balconies of the apartments across the courtyard..... OMG! It kept getting worse. We went back down and demanded that we be let out of the reservation. This is when the guy admitted he lied to me before. So they charged us for one night and we left....... V bad experience.

Another hotel we stayed in for a few nights whilst on our biking tour of Europe, the location is perfect for access to las Ramblas and various other sights in the city, also just a short walk away from marina area. Lovely spacious rooms although no balcony which I suppose is to be expected in a city hotel. Nice restaurant with a good selection of items for breakfast. Roof top pool although small can be quite welcome for a dip in the heat of the day. As this hotel is on one of the main streets in the city it can be quite noisy. Secure parking available and we found staff very friendly and helpful.

I was here for less than a day to be fair. I arrived late with a rental car. The hotel wasn't hard to find, but it was hard to determine where to stop and park. Once that was sorted, I thought it was clean and the reception staff were great. There was even an attendant to show and direct me to my parking spot underground.

My room was fantastic. It was on the ninth floor and had its own balcony. I wish I had longer to stay so I could have enjoyed it. It was like a little rooftop apartment.

The bathroom was large and had a jacuzzi tub. There were all the amenities. The room was very clean and spacious. Free wi-fi which is a big thing for me considering the price of hotels.

Pool is very small. Don't let the photo fool you.

Excellent location just a short walk to the marina area or la rambla with the metro station just outside the door. We had a room on the rear of the hotel as we had requested a quiet room. Accommodation was very good, spacious and clean. Reception staff were excellent and I wish I could speak Spanish as good as they did English - very helpful and polite. Indeed all the staff we encountered were very pleasant. The buffet breakfast was included in our tariff and offered a wide variety of continental and cooked items which varied during our 4 night stay. We did not eat dinner in the hotel so are unable to comment. The roof top pool area provided a welcome opportunity to relax with a drink from the bar and to cool off in the plunge pool after a day of sight seeing. Towels also available at the pool side. We would certainly stay here again.

Hotel is in a great location for the port and shopping. Hop on hop off bus only 5-10 minutes walk away. Rooms are well equipped, staff are very friendly and helpful. Front desk staff speak very good English.

Room Tip: Our room was 320 which was very adequate, had all requirements, but our friends had room 316. It was...
