Just got back from a weekend here. Hotel was in great location, very clean with good facilities. Couldn't really fault it, if I was being overly picky there was no coffee or tea in the rooms, which is fair enough, however, when we asked to buy some at the bar we were told it was closed and they couldnt help (it was before 11 pm). That should definitely not stop you from staying here, it is great.

Nice hotel, good location! After reading several reviews of this hotel, me and my husband booked a 4 day trip in feb-mar 2013. We weren't disappointed. Very nice staff who did everything to keep us happy. Clean room, nice breakfast. We asked for a quiet room, which we got on the 7 th floor. (room 819). Nice view overlooking the city, couldn't hear traffic at all. It rained and it was rather windy for 2 days, and we realized that the insulation of the hotel could be better. It sounded like the windows were open, but they were not :-). Not a big problem. We read that some reviews pointed out that the hotel was in a poor neighbourhood, - scary to walk in the smaller streets after dark etc. That is not our opinion at all! Although the neighbours are mainly arabs/asians/africans, we hadn't any incidents, and we felt rather secure everywhere. Take your precautions, however. Warning of pickpockets all over, - but we didn't see anyone. Many nice small restaurants/tapas bars on the west side of the Paral-el street. Read reviews on restaurants. If you keep away from the touristic La Rambla you will experience many nice litte "finds".
Overall, a very nice stay. We will be back!

Room Tip: High up - away from mainstreet

Stayed four nights in a regular double bedroom. Price I paid was totally outrageous due to conference going on in town (>EUR 300 per night), although it was a very nicely decorated and comfortable room. Big TV, A/C (cool/warm), safe, shower in bath, toilet and bidet, sitting area and a minibar. No coffee or tea.

In general the hotel staff wasn't friendly or unfriendly but just adequately and efficiently doing there job. No 'hello's" or "welcome's" at reception or breakfast. Just straight to the point in an otherwise friendly manner. Some people might be turned away by this.

The location of the hotel is a bit out of the way for both tourists and business visitors if you expect a city centre hotel. It is in between the old city centre and the Mont Juic/Fira (Gran Via) area. The metro entrance is right at the door of the hotel, so that issue is easily solved. The hotel is better suited or business than tourist purposes.

Then (not a first in my reviews :) noise:
- front side, busy busy street must be noisy for sure
- I had a room at the back of the building: (few) back yard noises are very well audible since noise is captured between high building. Not a critical issue during my stay.
- slamming hotel room doors and neighbouring rooms noises are present. Again not a major issue, but certainly a fact.

The breakfast buffet (included in the ridiculous roomrate) had a very good offering and was well presented. Late breakfast (till 11am every day of the week) was appreciated.

Internet connection at the hotel was not good, both wired and wireless, but free. Annoyingly you have to re-enter credentials everytime you want to connect to the Internet. With a very slow connection that is even more frustrating. Worked better during non-peak hours (10am-4pm).

Would recommend the hotel for business visitors not for tourists.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel.

Just got back from a 3 night stay with 6 other gals. Had a great time, the hotel is in an ideal location if you wish to be close to but not on top of the attractions. The rooms were spacious, we had one for 3 people with dividing doors and never had as much wardrobe space, only downside was poor lighting and only mirror is in the bathroom which when being used by 3 females gets a bit crowded.
Best gin and tonic ever.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel so much quiter as rooms at the front are overlooking the main...

We have just got back from 10 days in Barcelona and we couldn't have picked a better hotel for our trip. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and the rooms were great. We had one at the back and it was nice and quiet. We arrived a bit too early for check in, but we left our cases in the secure luggage room and went and had a coffee.
The hotle is ideally situated for getting about. It's right outside Paral.Lel metro station. We used the metro the whole time we were there. We got a T10 ticket for just under 10 euros and that entitled us to 10 journeys on either the metro or the bus.
We tended to get our early morning coffee and late night coffee from either Subways or Dinos, both across the road. The spanish hot chocolate is very thick and have it with churros, a type of doughnut that they dunk into their hot chocolate. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, so cannot comment on that, but had a few drinks at the bar and that was a good price.
Use the safe in the room to put valuables and make sure you only take what money you are likely to need out. We didn't have any problems, but we were aware pickpockets are about as in every large city.
We had a great time and saw everything we wanted. Lucky you if you go in the summer and can make use the pool and sunbathing area on the roof, it looks lovely

Room Tip: Use public transport to get about. It's cheap and frequent

My husband and I stayed here in February and got an excellent deal. Our room was a little noisy on the first night owing to traffic from the busy road but the staff were happy to upgrade us offering a room in a very quiet part of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for staff - service was excellent. The hotel was up to date and well appointed.

Room Tip: Request a quieter room if traffic noise bothers you.
