“A 'five' star hotel? ”

Staying at the Melià Sarrià is not recommended. The hotel is not your usual 5 star- I'd rate it 4 at best. Nice reception area, rooms are average but nothing 'special'. We were looking forward to using the pool and relaxation area but were told that we would have to pay €20 extra per person to use it! We have never stayed at a 'five' star where guests have had to pay extra to use the jacuzzi and sauna! We complained to the receptionist whose level of customer service stretched to 'you should have read the website more carefully'. Well done Melià group! Plenty more hotels in Barcelona.

Stayed here for 11 nights during a recent business trip. Service was very good all around. Breakfast and the meals I had in the bar were very good. My room faced the back of the hotel and was quiet except for one night when there was a lot of noise early in the morning.

Internet speed was fine for most of the stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back are a bit quieter.

I spent a week at Melia with 11 colleagues for a business seminar which was not held inside the premises.
The staff was very professional, courteous, polite, accommodating and we all had a warm welcome.
The room had all the comforts, mattress and pillows were the best I have ever had so far and I suffer of serious low back problems. I fell in love with the layout of the bathroom which also had a bath and shower both with hydro massage. Everything was provided for personal care. It was spotlessly cleaned every day along with the room. I stayed on the 12th floor and enjoyed a stunning view. Breakfast was a total feast and for us all was the "I look forward to it" moment of the day. Delicious freshly bakery products, fresh fruit, vegetables, savoury and sweet food, you name it, it was there and it was all absolutely fresh and delicious. The hotel is not too close to the centre, but taxis in Barcelona are very economical and can be found immediately outside the hotel. We asked reception for some tips on where to have dinner the first night we arrived and we were advised to go to a very good paella little restaurant at 5 minutes away on foot. It was in a quiet back road, the food was gorgeous and the service too. The bill very reasonable. I would really recommend this hotel especially for business trips. When I first visited Barcelona I stayed at a boutique B&B which is much closer to the centre and would return there if wanting to stay in Barcelona for leisure, but as I said, I would be more than happy to visit again Melia for business. I felt treated like a queen and my week away ran smoothly and happily.

Stayed two nights prior to a cruise. Fortunately we had read reviews that recommended upgrading to The Level. That is a MUST. With The Level upgrade we received expedited early check in, free wifi, free breakfast (which is very expensive if not upgraded to The Level), a larger room, and free tapas & drinks in The Level lounge in the evening (which was our dinner), and our own concierge in The Level lounge. The breakfast price for two people covers the upgrade. The bathroom was wonderful and the room itself was ok. The furniture could use updating and the room is still small considering the upgrade, but roomy enough for two for only two nights. The room also has a safe. This hotel is in the financial district but also seems to be a safer neighborhood than other areas of town. Others who did not upgrade were not as complimentary of this hotel stating rooms that were small and dreary.

Just came back from a business trip in Barcelona where I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. This is not a very family-friendly hotel but suitable for business. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel with a good coverage and bandwidth. The hotel serves generous breakfast at the restaurant on the 1st level. THere was a tram station very close to the hotel as well as bus stations. I was on the 8th floor facing the main street which was a bit noisy. Overall, I propose this hotel for business.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front side are a bit noisy.

I have stayed in Hotel Melia Sarria during my business travel extended with pşersonal week-end gateway. The hotel overall is in good shape with very good quality of food; friendly service and staff.
I had a quiet big room looking over the main street. But I heard from some of my colleagues that their room were too small and with no bath (just shower) amenity.
However I should say that the walls between rooms are like "paper thick " thus no sound prood. I have spent one night with no sleep because of the couple next door who made a lot of noise till 6am in the morning.
I have reported this problem to reception the next day and they said they will send a note to these people; apparently it worked as the next night there was not much of noise.
There is not much choice of international TV channels.
The hotel is not downtown (Pl de Catalunya) but it takes 7 Euros by taxi to get there.
Overall it was a good experience.

This hotel offered exceptional service at every level. We very much enjoyed the breakfast - best on our 5 week holiday. Rooms were comfortable (although the bed was not - we were in a disabled room so that may not be a reflection of the usual beds) and very clean. The only consideration was that the hotel was a fair way from the centre of the city (and access to places we wanted to visit or experience) - approx 8 Euro. Shops nearby were great for food.
