We stayed here for 3 nights in April while touring around Barcelona. We were a party of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenage daughters) along with our 2 medium size dogs. We drove from Germany and parking was a necessity. Balmes has parking available just next door but you must reserve in advance. Our room was on the ground floor. It was a split level with a loft bedroom upstairs and double size pullout couch below. The best part was the small patio off the sliding glass door. Here we could let the dogs move about. There is a minibar frig in this unit as well. The 2 twin beds upstairs were comfortable but the pullout mattress was a bit uncomfortable for the teenagers. The bath was nice and about average size. The hair dryer was a bit weak so we used our own. The water had to be run for quite some time before the hot water started fowing but with 4 of us showering we did not run out. The hotel staff would answer any questions you had and were pleasant, however, not overly-forthcoming with an abundance of information about the area. We did not take advantage of breakfast so I can't speak to that. The worst part of our stay was the noise. The pool/ jacuzzi is located just above and in the adjoins building and the pump or something klunked all day and night. The walls were extraordinarily thin and we could hear even a clearing of the throat and the screaming children who arrived at 10:00pm and screamed until well after 11:00. We have had small children before do I know it's not easy but it was ridiculously loud. Even soft voices could be heard next door. I'm not sure if this was because of the location of these rooms or if it is a Hotel-wide issue, but pack earplugs. Aside from this I would stay there again when watching our budget. The location is really nice and the area seemed safe at night. There was always a clerk at reception. We ate at various restaurants around town so we didn't stay near hotel for that, but there is a small grocery nearby and pharmacies. Enjoy Barcelona- it is an amazing city.
