“Good Hotel, Little Things Concern”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We stayed five days in the hotel.
Great location, comfortable European rooms, super staff, an excellent buffet breakfast.
A/C was poor first two days but they corrected.
Buffet breakfast is one of the best we have had in all of our travels.
Huge selections.
UNTIL the tour groups come in.
They have one coffee machine that had 13 people backed up this morning.
Then ran out of coffee cups.
Buffet line is only one side, with 2 tour groups, very difficult to get to the food.
Table as not staggered, cramped together.
We could live with these but the hotel is so nice, why get dinged on this one issue.
A little thought on layout would correct these buffet issues.
Management helped us with an issue at an ATM. Went out of their way. SUPER.

Room Tip: Hotel is in a residential area. Lots of parties during our 5 night stay. They party hardy and late...

We appreciate the comments made and their satisfaction is our reward for doing things right. You certainly coincided with tour group at the time of breakfast and could not enjoy 100% but are issues that we can not easily foresee, however, we usually have more space and cafe area for breakfast more leisurely. We hope to see you again on a future occasion. Carlos

I've stayed here for a city break and foudn the location and the setting of hotely really nice. Close to upper part of Rambla and walking distance (cca 20 min) to La Sagrada Familia. The fact hotel offers free wi-fi and have an excellent breakfast selection, is also a significant plus. Another positive thing is the large bathroom.

The only minus I find is the setting of the air-con, which has the railing set down which means it blows dirctly onto you if you're in bed, which makes it impossible to have it on during the night. There really should be a smartr way to place the A/C or to set the railing in a different, less disturbing way. Also, I found the beds quite hard and having the leather pillow (if only for decoration) was a bit strange, but no mater. Also, we found the walls of the hotel to be quite thin, you could hear everything from the hall and from the other rooms as well.

I've read some bad comments about the staff, but have only experienced good & porfessional attitude. So I'd definitely stay in this hotel, if they plan to solve the air-con matter.

Thank you for your comments and thank you especially the mention of our staff. Regard to the impact on the air, tell the appliances have several options for handling and position and that any malfunction detected we suggest you immediately notify to the front desck and so look for a better solution. On the beds have several types of mattress and more pillows available for those customers who order more. We pray that the next time you warn any deficiencies during their stay and to serve you well immediately. Your satisfaction is ours. Thank you. Carlos

Me and My friend stayed here for 5 nights whilst exploring the wonderful city if Barcelona. This hotel was in a great location about 10 minute walk from the metro, 10/15 minutes from La Sagrada de la Familia and La pedrera. Also it is in a slightly less touristy area so it nice to get away from the crowds of the Rambles and Gothic areas. Our room was lovely and modern with aircon, hairdryer, view of the street, TV, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, WiFi. We never eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. The staff at the reception seemed friendly but only really spoke to them on arrival and when departing. I would stay at this hotel again.

The staff was incredible rude to my friend and I. To start off, one of the front desk employees had no idea where the hotel was on a city map. He circled a random spot that ended up being not only on the wrong side of the street, but far north of where the hotel was.....this caused my friend and I to walk aimlessly around a city we didn't know AND over 20 euro in cab fare trying to find our way back to the hotel. This front desk employee was arrogant and rude ......that goes for the rest of the staff at this hotel. I didn't catch his name, but we did get the name of another rude employee....her name was Gemma. Other issues occurred during this stay. Our first night we discovered our hair dryer wasn't working. We told the front desk and they told us it was us not the dryer. We were doing something wrong. I explained how I had the electric on and and hit the red button and this jerk insisted it was me. I told him to come up and see for himself....he was too lazy to do that so he told me to report it again in the AM. So we did. We come back to the hotle in the evening....and of course, not fixed, nor mentioned when we came in. I asked for a plug in and they refused to get us one and told us to change rooms....yea halfway through our stay????? The manager conviently disappeared when we wanted to speak with him face to face. His name I think was Mario. He was rude as well which explains why the staff behaved in the same manor. Also, the reason why their wifi didn't work was our fault too....even though they didn't show us how to connect, the same front desk person said it was our faulty devices.

We stayed in 7 hotels throughout our travels in Spain. This was, by far, the worst. Unwelcoming and obnoxious.....and over what? The hotel, at best, was a 3 star.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

it was very difficult to find a good hotel at a good price and centrally located as well. We finally found this a couple of days before our departure. We got a suite with two rooms and a balcony with a good view.
The hotel was located close to the metro and it was a 20 min walk to Catalonia Square and another 20 to the peer. You passed through a very touristy, colourfull steet where you have stalls, shops and restaurants called, The Rambla.
I probably wouldnt have written this review if the staff had not been so friendly and helpful. We had taken a cruise and on our return we had a day's stop in Barcelona. As we had stayed at this hotel previously, we requested them to keep our luggage for the day so we were free to move around and sightsee. They were very accomodating!
A tip for toursits is that read the menu carefully before ordering. The drinks are as expensive as meals! Try and eat at good restaurants or stick to fast food if you have young kids, as on our very first day we ended up paying a whole lot more than we should have and the food was terrible as well.

The hotel is very well located, a quick walk from the Diagonal Metro station in Paseig de Gracia, walking distance from the Sagrada Familia(15/20 minutes) in a quiet area but with excelent options of bars and restaurants.
The hotel is nice the room was good, large with a good bed, confortable, with free coffea and tea, unfortunately it was an interior one and whith the window open there was a disconforting noise from the air condition engine. The bathroom was clean and with everything you need. The staff in the reception was very helpful there were two PC in the lobby with free internet..
During the weekend the Bar and Restaurant are closed which is the minimum strange in such a kind of Hotel. The price was very good, a promotion140€ for 2 nights . The price of breakfast is outrageous.
For this price I Would stay again

Being a fan of the Catalonia hotel chain we decided to stay there for one night before flight out from Barcelona airport. And I am so glad it was only one night! The hotel was nothing like I expected! It was not as centrally located as advertised. The area was a little run down to the point that the receptionist kept a log behind the door at night to keep people from coming in. The rooms where poorly lit and poorly decorated. The bathrooms where not as clean or modern as I would have liked them to be. All the that aside, the worst thing for me was that the Pillows were leather! Yes leather. I had such a hard time sleeping! I cannot imagine why in the world anyone would think leather pillows would be a good idea. I was also not impressed when I called reception to ask for an Iron and they didnt have one. Not a single one in the entire hotel! Anyway overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are a lot better hotels in barcelona within the same price range so keep looking!

Dear Guest, we regret your bad experience with us. We inform you that the area the hotel is in the "Eixample" district one of the most exclusive in the city and just two blocks from the "Paseo de Gracia", however the location of the hotel you chose is our input highly valued, together cleaning and hotel staff.
Regarding the leather cushions are only decoration on the bed could you find the pillows to sleep
We feel all the inconvenience and we suggest that the next time doubts notify at the reception.
Thank you for your collaboration. Carlos
