This hotel is loosely based around a space theme thus there is plenty of little touches to bring it all together, iMacs at reception, monochrome everything etc but it does deliver on giving a bit more than your average hotel. Although directly above the train station, we heard no noise whatsoever in our 6 days there. Depending on what you plan to do and where you deem a good location to be, it is 10-15 mins from las ramblas by metro but we didn't find that a problem at all. The room was spacious and clean and had an awesome rain shower which was big enough to sleep in. The complimentary toiletries where good and overall the hotel delivered on my expectations. A couple of negatives - air con was set remotely at 21. I asked 5 times to have it out down which I was told was no problem however on attempt 6 we were advised that actually this was the lowest it could go. Why no one mentioned that before I'm not sure?!?! Also, we were advised to keep the key in the electricity docket as then the air con would be on for us coming home however we the maid took the key out and to reception which is apparently standard practice. Neither of these were big issues and wouldn't stop me rebooking this place in the future.

The hotel is modern and well run but if you want to be in the centre of Barcelona it is not as convenient as some reviews suggest. The hotel is on the main station but there are long underground walks to the metro platforms which in the how weather are heavy going.

This a great hotel to stay at as a basis for getting around, especially if you are arriving on the train as its right above the main metro and fast train station. The hotel is clean and modern with good facilities and a great breakfast/ dining room. The rooms are a little small and there's no privacy in the bathroom which isn't an issue for a couple but maybe for some.

Room Tip: Top floor has less noise from rooms above. Some rooms have double basins.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights in early July for my 21st birthday, and booked a last minute type package deal through easyjet holidays. Located with Sants Estacion below, the hotel is in prime position for transport links into all corners of the city. The hotel itself is quite business-y but very modern and maintains its 'orbital space' theme with dark hallways lit only by glowing blue panels etc. After an initial room placement into a twin room (on 4th floor) despite booking a double room, we were quickly re-allocated into a double room with no fuss, which was on the 6th floor (out of 7) so great views. The room was clean, the bed a large comfy queen size with lots of big pillows, overhead rainfall shower worked well and the little extras included such as the ipod dock/speakers were a great touch.

We booked breakfast included, and have no regrets; great continental selection including all sorts of fruits, pastries, cheeses, meats, breads, coffees and juices - and even a chocolate fountain!

The metro links, and mainline station links were incredibly convenient - we were in the Gothic quarter, or Las Ramblas within 15 mins on one subway line. Staff were not particularly friendly, but not unpleasant either, and the room was serviced efficiently by the time we got back from breakfast in the mornings. Overall, the hotel made a great place to stay and we would return/recommend. Note: have some spare cash at at check-out to pay for the city tax c.2 euros per person per day.

We also highly recommend a visit to 'rent-electric' where you can rent an electric bike (with no driving license) or even small car (if you have a european driving license) for 3-5 euros per hour. It made us very efficient and independent tourists, and we preferred it to the idea of sitting on a tour bus or the like. Additionally, stock up on some bottled water from a local supermercado because made the mistake of using the mini-bar for VERY overpriced refreshments!

Room Tip: We were in Room 640, on the 6th floor out of 7, and the views were great.

If you are looking for a centrally located resting spot, this is it. Trendy, in a space age way, this hotel offers get a relaxing place above the train station and close to major scenic spots. Great breakfast or wonderful restaurants in walking distance. If you enjoy clean lines, and a futuristic environment, have "Scotty beam you up" to this spot.

Barcelo Sants Hotel is a deliberate choice hotel as it's not the obvious choice if your visiting Barcelona for the first time to discover one of the most interesting and diverse cities in the world.
If you need a handy well priced hotel for an early morning train, expo or football, this is a good choice. A very well spec'd hotel which is modern, new and high quality fit out. The beds are very comfortable and the shower rain head is great with free wi-fi (viva free wi-fi!!) . I also found the check in staff very accommodating and helpful.
The only negatives I could suggest are the noises from outside the room in the corridors and adjacent rooms, and limited tv options in English - but it is Spain and you should be out amongst this wonderful city.
Footsteps on the floating timber floors are easily heard from upstairs and next door, and at one point during the night I thought someone was showering in my room and someone else was snoring next to me!
Aside from the main negative I think this is a good budget hotel that I would recommend. There are plenty of good coffee shops and eateries around the station downstairs so b/fast is good and cheap.
