“brilliant hotel shame about the transfers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

Hotel is really good no issues with it all but don't book any transfers through travel republic it took an age to get here and there was only 5 couples on the mini bus and going back we fly at 13.45 and they want to pick us up 8,35 and we don't need to check any luggage in .very disappointed with the response when I rang them, please don't use them in Barcelona get the train or a taxi a Damon sight quicker

We stayed at the Expo hotel for our long weekend city break. Very close to the station , which made airport transfers very easy ( and cheap at under €5 each). The hotel was clean and all rooms appear to have a balcony. The bathroom could have done with some refurbishment however was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice each morning. It was an additional charge however set us in good stead for our expeditions each day.
The hotel had a park near by and a selection of restaurants and cafés. It is close to the main station , metro stations and the hop on hop off bus stop. We made use of the hop on hop off bus and filled every spare hour of the day!
There is a pool at the hotel however it was not open during our stay in April.
Would stay here again on our next visit to Barcelona.

The location of this hotel is absolutely fabulous. It's literally 5mins from both the mainline station (20mins or less to airport) and the Metro station. The metro is open literally 24hours therefore didn't need to catch a cab at all.
The hotel was very modern and clean. All the rooms have a balcony view which is very nice (especially as we stayed on the 6th floor).
The staff very welcoming and always looking to please you.

The only negative thing to say is that the rooftop swimming pool was closed because we came in April. They open up from May :( .... i'd definitely stay here again!

The Expo Hotel at #2 Avda. Roma in Barcelona is a clean and convenient 4 star hotel worth considering. We are staying in Barcelona for 2 weeks and were unable to find affordable housing in the Barrio Gothic area of the Central City, so we opted for the Expo located nearer the port in the renovated Olympic Games part of the city. The Expo is perfectly situated between the main Sants Metro Station and the Plaza Espagna Rail and Metro station (both easily walkable in 5 minutes). The hotel, built for the 1992 Olympic games is a modern facility with larger than normal European rooms. Although the furnishings are somewhat dated, it is clean, bright and airy. The staff is multi-lingual and always ready to help. There is an in house restaurant, that I would highly recommend for breakfast. It is a large buffet style with both American and European fare and easily the most affordable place to eat at just 8.50Euro.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Plaza Espagna have views of the Olympic Area and the Fountains which give light and...

We chose Expo Hotel because of it's location. It is just a block away from the Metro station
and the Railroad station.

It was especially convenient for us as we had to be at the airport at 6 A.M. The station is
just minutes away and we were at the airport in less than 20 minutes. Other friends stayed
farther away from the station and therefore took a taxi to the airport and it cost them 55 euros!
while our train ticket cost about 2 euros.

Jordi at the front desk was most helpful, giving us instructions on getting around the city and
making sure we booked our tickets for Sagrada Familia on line to avoid a long wait.

Our room was ready for us even though it was 10 A.M. The room was clean, very large and
comfortable.

I would definitely stay here on my next visit.

Just stayed at expo this weekend with my husband and 5 year old. Seemed to get mixed reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect but found it really nice. Lovely welcoming receptionist who let us check in early which was so welcome after an early flight and sorted our room to one which suited us better. Room was clean and smart. Small fridge was handy for water (and chocolate) and there was a balcony which was handy as the room wad a bit stuffy.
We had breakfast the 2 mornings which was really nice. Hot and cold stuff and chocolate cake if you fancied it.
Location is great for connecting transport. Seemed a little out of the way if you wanted to walk but it is right next to the station for trains and busses. We jumped on the open top job as we had limited time in the city.
Would deffo stay again. Good value for money in a convenient location. Good eggs for breakfast. Thats all I need

This hotel has become my reference point every time that I go to Barcelona. Perfect location and very professional and friendly staff. We really loved the last room that they allocated for us on the highest floor with amazing views to Plaça Espanya and Montjuïc. Just to say something negative, they should really change the televisions and probably some furniture, they are quite old for a 4 stars hotel and it doesn't match with the public areas standard. I will go back for the 4th stay soon.
