Expo Hotel Barcelona
Ranked #336 of 516 Hotels in Barcelona
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I stayed at the Expo for one night while in Barcelona, and was really surprised at the quality and high standard of the hotel for such a low tariff. The rooms where huge and modern....I felt as if I were in a small apartment. The dining room was also enormous, combined with the bar area. The meals and service however, were mediocre.
The position, while not right in the city, was good, and just a stone`s throw from the Barcelo Sans railway station.
The reception staff were efficient and pleasant, but very busy as you might expect with such a popular hotel. They also have a very efficient baggage storage system, for those who have to hang around waiting for their flights after the midday check out.
I would certainly recomment this hotel to anyone.

We visited Barcelona from Monday to Thuirsday in October with 4 persons. The hotel is near to the Sants station, but the front side is to the small Mallorca street. We had a room in a higher floor and in direction to Mallorca street. I don't like air con. Of course we didn't hear the waves of the ocean, but we could sleep with open window. From the room on our left side we heared nothing, from our children on the rifht side we heard a liitle bit. But we didn't hear the TV, it was too quiet. Both rooms has been very clean. The service was was very good. At the reception has been a queue although the service team was available. I think this is caused by spanish organization, the staff needed calls for the most activiites.
If we visit Barcelona again, we will book this hotel again.

We were impressed with our spacious room /ensuite.balcony and the magnificent a la carte breakfast included. Quite central to the tourist areas, staff were very helpful and it was excellent value for money .

Was worried about hotel after reading some of the recent reviews but were pleasantly surprised.booked the hotel because it was near espanya plaza and magic fountains.Pleased with location as near to metro and 10 minutes walk from fountains
We booked a city room which although small was adequate for our needs,it had toiletries and gown provided which as on a ryanair flight with only hand luggage was very helpful. We booked in early on a high high floor as requested, room was clean and bed very comfy?
The negative points were roof terrace closed which was very disappointing and lots of traffic noise all night, only stayed here one night .had breakfast at 8.50 euros although nothing special was good value and kept us going for a full days siteseeing. This hotel is about 35 mins pleasant easy stroll from the Ramles

Room Tip: Choose high floor overlooking the park not Sants Train Station .

Very bad mattresses. At least coffee/tea maker should be provided for this price you charged. Compared with Atlantis. Atlantis has even better location, more central and close to metro. Atlantis had everything key for safe, free wi-fi, comfortable beds , coffee/tea maker. Including nice breakfast price was much better.

regards, TL

We got to the hotel early and checked in, they had a room available for us with a double bed. We checked our bags in with them and went on a bus tour of Barcelona and came back at 2:30pm. When we went to get our keys they had given our room away and only had rooms with single beds, even though we already checked in with the double bed room. They said they had no rooms to offer with a double bed so we were given a room with two singles.. when we went to the room the beds were not made, upon entering the room further, there was luggage, shopping bags and clothes in the closet.. they had given us a key to someone else's room.. fuming at this point I returned to the desk where they laughed at me and did not apologize and just gave me a new key as if it was no big deal. I was blown away at their low level of customer service. The beds were not comfortable and the rooms were not sound proof so you could hear noises all night from outside, from the busy train station. This is not how I had wanted to spend the last night of my Honeymoon, not even being able to sleep in the same bed as my new husband. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The buffet was not very good, and the "wifi" which was very expensive, was so slow it wasn't worth using. I usually at least have something positive to add but there is honestly nothing that was good about it. There was a security guard at the door.. but it didn't do much good, because a lady's luggage was taken out of the lobby while he was standing there.. I was extremely unimpressed by the entire experience.

Room Tip: If you are going to check in early with a good room, take your key right away so they don't give...
