Stayed 2 nights and wanted to explore Barcelona without having to stay too close to centre with our 4 yr old and the car! The hotel is just on the outskirts of Barcelona but Metro is just behind the hotel and is really easy to navigate. Staff's friendly and very helpful. Room was big and clean, bathroom was spacious and great. We already new about the WIFI problem as many people had written about it, so didn't really care. Overall was very happy with our stay and would recommend it.

We have had a 5 night break on a dinner bed & breakfast basis. This was a big mistake as there was 1 fixed menu with very little choice every night. Once we relised that we would be eating the same thing each night we spoke to the reception staff and they said nothing can be done. On the third night the dinner we were given had mites in the salad, we were served uncooked chicken which was taken back and reheated, macoroni cheese with no cheese sause and raw cuttelfish.
We cancelled our dinner for the last night so we were well under our total spend for 5 nights and the hotel still charged us more.
The attitute of the reception staff was it does not matter what type of experience we have had with the dinner you still have to pay for what you have consumed.
Hotel in itself was good but this experince spolt the holiday. We donot recomend DBB break at this hotel.

Had a really nice stay at the Alimara with a few friends earlier in the month. We paid a reasonable £200 for two nights for a gigantic quad room. Had two separate bedrooms with very nice beds, big bathroom w/ shower and bath and a huge balcony overlooking Barcelona. Good transport links (Metro's 2 minutes walk, 10 min train to Las Ramblas). Only downside possibly was the access to the WIFI - it was very slow & expensive.... felt it could have been inclusive in the room price.

I haven't traveled much in Europe so I don't know how well this hotel represents what to expect. I was impressed with the efficiency of the hotel rooms. Simple, not very spacious, but no space was wasted. No extras in the rooms (iron, bucket for water). Got the feeling if you wanted pretty much anything extra there would be a cost. Hotel staff was friendly and courteous. Spoke English well, at least at the front desk, although restaurant, lounge and housekeepers struggled. But I didn't speak Spanish well either so I guess it evened out.

Hotel was perfectly located for my needs. I was there for a conference at the University which was in walking distance and the Metro stop was one block away. Purchased a 5-day Metro pass at the airport so transportation was no problem at all. Hotel is located adjacent to an apartment neighborhood which was also very cool. Everything you needed was within walking distance.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

OK so wifi is iffy, but that is the only issue I could find with this gem set on the outskirts of town but practically above the Mundet metro stop (no you couldnt hear it) which is just 15-20 mins from most sights, nightlife etc. Lovely views of the hills from some rooms and surprisingly peaceful setting.

What you lose in proximity you gain in space etc. The place was spotlessly clean, especially the rooms, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Food onsite was fine - nothing more than that but lets face it, you eat at the hotel when you are too tired to go out and on that basis it is as much as you can ask.

A lovely characterful restaurant (Can Travi Nou) just 5 minutes walk away made my stay even better. I absolutely recommend this hotel and hope I will be back.

We stayed here during a recent stay in Barcelona while there for a conference. It was nice and clean. Staff were polite and very helpful. The food choices in the area are somewhat limited, and on Sunday the hotel seems to be the only option for breakfast. There is a large continental style breakfast spread, but it is somewhat pricey for the selection. It's the only option there is.
The restaurant has limited options for dinner, but hte food is good.

The hotel is located near a large grocery store, a couple of small breakfast/lunch cafes (one in the grocery store) and really close to the metro, which makes it easy to get around town. The general neighborhood is nice and felt safe. I would recommend this hotel if you need to stay in that part of town for some reason. It was a good value for the price. But if you're there vacationing, I would recommend something closer to the city center.

We stayed there as this was the official hotel for a conference at the Mundet campus of University of Barcelona. The hotel is pleasant enough - a good breakfast (though not cheap) and helpful staff. Evening menu is a bit limited - this wouldn't be a problem but there isn't anything nearby - avoid the food in the bar in the housing complex opposite.
Free wifi but only in the downstairs public areas which seems peseta-pinching to me when the most basic hotels in much poorer Bolivia provide this for free.
Very handy for line 3 of the metro and you can be in the city in 15 minutes.
I'd only consider it if you actually want to stay at Mundet.
