“Uncomfortable”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

The location is good, near to everything but the hotel is located right across the street from a hostel where all the young and very drunk people stay. Every night was a struggle to be able to sleep due to the shouting and drunk singing from the hostel guests.
The beds were so uncomfortable, I woke up with back pain every day, their pillows were so thin and old, there was no AC in the rooms and it got so hot at night that we had to sleep with the balcony door opened but the noise coming from the hostel guests across the street made it almost impossible to rest. The kids from the hostel loved to hang out right in front of the main entrance door and management would not do anything about it.
The front desk employees were friendly same as the housekeeping staff, but it didn't make up for the general discomfort that we experienced.

Perfect location central to major routes by metro or bus and Aerobus. Few metres to cafes, bars and restaurants and easy access on foot to Ramblas and Gothic Quarter. Staff helpful if required. Did not have breakfast and glad as only a few euros each to have breakfast across road, round corner etc with no issues at all. Room at front wasn't huge but perfectly acceptable but air can didn't work, this was only at night as room got very stuffy around 4am but if we opened doors traffic noise was bad. No traffic noise otherwise. Wished there had been kettle etc and no iron as mentioned but we managed without. I think it said that pool available, it is but not at property, I think it's next door and only available for children to use at very specified times. We didn't go and had no kids but think I should mention this as misleading. Didn't find outside save either which I would want had I been there in summer. Other than these points hotel was nice and well presented and worth going if only for the amazing location.

Room Tip: Don't bother with breakfast unless you want a full cooked breakfast as very cheap nearby.

The room was quite large, perhaps due to this being an older hotel when such luxuries were more affordable in bigger cities. Nicely updated, a comfy bed although the location of the mirrors in the room leave something to be desired should you find yourselves in an, ahem… ‘reflective’ mood…
Nevertheless I would say a solid choice, especially given it’s central location if it wasn’t for one little detail: The building sits directly above the metro. Now in most places this would not be an issue, but here, it sounds a bit like it runs through the room! And they don’t stop at midnight, especially on the weekends so expect the frequent noisy intrusion until the wee hours. Our room was on the 2nd floor (that’s the 3rd floor for the American readers) and the metro was still going through the room! Reminded me a bit of the loud music played by the Turkish restaurant in the basement of the building we live in, but I digress…
Great shower and decent amenities and extras in the room and bath, although the bath could use a bit of a refit as it is definitely showing its age.
Bottom line? You still get what you pay for. 4 star hotel cheaper than many nearby 3 stars, add some metro noise and you got yourself a winning recipe.

Stayed here for a few nights in march. Location was fantastic just a short stroll from las ramblas and convenient for airport transfers to nearby square . Major drawback was construction work outside with the front of the hotel covered in scaffolding and on the first morning had digger/truck noise from early in morning so had to move rooms to a quieter area of the hotel which the staff were able to accommodate . Also another caveat would be metro noise particularly in the lower floor at the front of the hotel .

If you are expecting a 4-star treatment from a 4-star hotel, this hotel is not the one you are looking for. However, if you need an average hotel at the hearth of Barcelona, this hotel might be good for you. I believe Regina Hotel should be rated only as an average 3-star hotel.

During our stay on the fourth floor, we felt the vibrations from the metro-trains moving underground below the hotel. There is also no water-heater or tea-maker in the room and cleaning service should have been better.

The most important and good thing about the hotel is its proximity to the city center (La Ramblas, Plaça de Catalunya, Barri Gotic etc.). All these are just around the corner within 2-3 minutes walking distance, so that you can enjoy the center of Barcelona.

This is not 4* hotel. It looks dirty, because it is too old, and not renovated ever. Not worth the money. The location is great, but that is the only good thing. The stuff was kind, but not up to the standards of four star hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights. The reception area is comfortable and just across the way from the bar area, which is also very comfortable and plays chilled music. The bar offers a selection of foods (which are cooked and bought across from the restraunt next door) we did not stay for breakfast however because we were so close to many foodie places. The hotel is situated right at the end of la Ramblas, a busy touristy stretch which leads to the beach and port. The staff were very accomodating and the room facilities were great. We had a superior room so had lots of space. the bathroom was very small but we did get rituals, a very nice brand of toiletries. A great place to stay!
