“The bathroom let you down”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

I wanted to give this hotet a 4. The location is great, big room and a very nice lobby bar. The bathroom was large but the smell in there was awful. We ended up escaping our room because of the smell coming from the bathroom.

If you are looking for a hotel in the centre of Barcelona and close to everything, look no further. This hotel is just off the Plaza Catalunya and La Ramblas. We got a very good deal for 3 nights and booked directly with the hotel through their website. We didn't use the metro, so cannot comment on same.
The only complaint I would have is the price of the breakfast, our deal was for room only and breakfast costed an extra E16 each day plus tax - not worth it for what you got. Also there are no tea making facilities in the rooms. Apart from that the hotel was great. Very clean, very friendly staff both at reception and the bar. Got good advise on where to eat and how to find places.
Nice little place for a snack, coffee or drink is Viena on La Ramblas. We also had a meal in the 4 Cats (got directions from hotel) it was very good but would advise to just have main course and drinks as starters are all very expensive for what you get - our main meal was excellent.
If doing any of the bus tours, enquire at receiption as they give you a voucher and a pack. The two day deal is best value as there are two tours - Red & Blue, if you only have time for one tour I would recommend you do the Blue tour - much more interesting and more things to hop off and see.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 3rd Floor, no great view but very quite

I spent 2 nights in this hotel and it was enough. There is nothing special to mention about it. It's cleaned every day, the amenities are acceptable, the staff is friendly and there is breakfast (nothing special).
The hotel can be either 3*, or 4* (it's 4*), you cannot see the difference.
Basically everything is there, but somehow the puzzle pieces don't come together. This establishment would need a creative manager, who would bring in some ideas, some specialties, some life, something that would make this hotel real 4* and the guests happy.

Until then, this is a hotel, if you don't have big expectations, this will do. It's like an invisible building in a Harry Potter movie, as soon as you leave, you forget it.
I recommend this hotel, when you ran out of options in 4* hotels in this area, then it will just do fine. Otherwise go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Doesn't really matter, the back rooms are looking at the nothing (meaning: the backside of a bui...

Wasn't sure what to expect, but picked the Regina based on its closeness to the Plaza Catalunya and La Rambas and reasonable price. What we found was a clean, well-run, quiet, friendly hotel within walking distance of attractions and metro. In short, a gem.

A day before check-in we had to make a change to add a person, and it was handled smoothly and professionally. Hotel staff made wake-up call and had taxi waiting for early-morning trip to airport. Hotel has nice lounge (with friendly service for late afternoon tea) and Internet room (at no charge) which was very helpful as Hurricane Sandy was approaching the New York area, where we were headed.

As other reviewers have said, it is a marvellously central location - we walked everywhere. The Ramblas pass through Plaza Catalunya (only 200 metres away). The hotel was efficient and clean, if a bit soulless. Some relics of its former glory remain (the entrance facade and internal stairway) but most of the internals have been updated to 'modern could-be-anywhere' style. The room was quite large. After reading the Trip Advisor reviews we asked for a quiet room. We were given one at the end of a corridor on the first floor. We heard very little of the other guests, but could both hear and feel the metro trains running under the street outside. Perhaps a higher floor would have been better. The airport bus (Aerobus) terminates in Plaza Catalunya. If you are going to or from the airport then do use it - it only costs about 5 euros, it runs very frequently (5 to 15 minutes according to time of day), and there is usually one waiting at the stop in the Plaza or at the airport, so you don't have to stand and wait outside. Takes about 30 minutes - a taxi would not be much quicker. Just make sure you get the one for the correct terminal, A1 or A2. So if you are travelling to Barcelona for a day or two of sightseeing hotel Regina is a good choice both for location and to keep the costs of the hotel and transfers down.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the lifts - ours was at the end of the first floor corridor, which meant...

Right off Plaza Catalunya, it put us within a block of the hop on-hop off bus. The hotel staff was extremely helpful in offering advice on restaurants, tours and really anything we asked of them. The room was extremely large, with very modern bathroom facilities, comfortable robes and slippers. The only negative, depending on what part of the hotel you're in, is that it's right above an underground train. We could feel it a bit but it wasn't overwhelming.

This hotel is barely a minute's walk from the Plaza Catalunya - from there it is easy to get to all the main Barcelona tourist spots. We walked everywhere easily. The front desk was happy to look after left luggage and it was an easy stroll to the Aerobus. Plenty of good coffee spots (and a Starbucks) within a block.

Room was comfortable and large for 2 adults, with two kids in a decent side room.

Would not hesitate to return to the Regina for a couple of nights stay in Barcelona.
