Newly opened (July 2011) Kharma, next to the well known Chic and Basic hotel and close to Ciutadella park and the (still under renovation) Mercat del Born, does not even try to be anything local, authentic or budget like most restaurants in El Born. No, this is very modern, eclectic, crossover both in food and design. It´s also one of the best (and most expensive) restaurants in the area, and one of the few places that feel like this is somewhere I would go if I lived in Barcelona. Food is top notch, some examples are the mushroom risotto, the duck spring rolls and the duck teriyaki. Kharma seems to be very popular for dinner and it´s mostly a young crowd like in the rest of El Born, but they also have really good lunch/brunch, 3 courses for a quite reasonable price.
