Owner description: Guided walking tours to discover the gastronomic culture of Barcelona.

The tour was advertised as a 'Gourmet' food tour of Barcelona, but it really didnt deliver. The group was very large and they had head pieces for us to wear. I didnt like that at all. You couldnt hear traffic and what was going on around you. The tour went to the main market Boqueria and some small specialized shops. Again the group was too large for all of us to be in some of the places and hear what was happening. I took the tour to get acquainted with Barcelona, but to be honest, it is small enough to do on your own and have a better time at your own pace. The price of the tour wasnt too expensive, but not really worth the cost.

Our guide Carlos was great. I am pretty familiar with Barcelona and I have just taken another tour for tapas that followed the same route as this one but was much less informative. I thought it was awesome and showed us very specialized shops, that dealt with the same products for hundred years and of course La Boqueria and Santa Caterina markets. As the above comment mentioned, don't expect to be offered breakfast or tasting. That is not what the tour is meant to be. We were offered a small container of mixed fruit and a 10 min in the market on our own during which I managed to get va coffee and a pastry. If you would like tasting, take the tapas tour though less interesting and much more expensive in my opinion. This awesome tour was provided by Barcelona tourism and we carried a device to hear the guide. That allowed to take pictures without missing the commentary. We were also given a map with the itinerary and the names of the stores we visited. Do the tour if you like to explore cultures through gastronomy

We usually do not take guided tours, but this one is a justified exception: It's a two hours' walk in relatively small part of Barcelona's (touristic) center, visiting 2 markets, restaurants, and special food shops. We paid 20 Euro per person and were very happy with this tour. Do not expect to get food (see on this a comment below), there's hardly time for this, but the information and insights you get will later provide many hours of culinary delight, when you're on your own.
We took this tour after being in Barcelona for 3 days, and were sorry for not taking it sooner.
I suppose the quality of the tour also depends on the guided you get; ours was excellent.

As for the food you do get: we got a fruit Salad in the La Boqueria market (nice) and at the end of the tour a coupon for a Tapas and Drink in a restaurant that was far less good that whatever we visited. They would have been better off without that final bonus.

This tour is managed by the tourist information office. Oliver led our tour down boulevards, up alleys, through markets and across town and kept 24 of us informed and 'entertained' throughout the 2.5 hours with his insights of Barcelona, Catalan food and culture. This isn't a tasting tour but is about the fast disappearing way of life, the old shops, the food and the markets and the 'food related' history of this very busy town. I would recommend to take the tour early on in your holiday as there are shops and streets that you will want to revisit at your own pace. I learn't more about Barcelona and Catalan culture in the two (plus) hours than from the tens of hours pouring over guide books.

This was a great tour if you like to explore the culinary aspects of the country you are visiting. They take you to see many local food merchants. Most are very authentic. Time to shop is short. A few guys on the tour were marking the locations on a map, a great idea. There are only two tastings, so it is more of an informative tour than a tasting tour, but fun just the same.
