One morning, the hubby and I set out to find churros for breakfast. We started walking from our hotel located in Las Ramblas and since we weren't familiar with the area, we had a difficult time navigating through the alleyways to get to the churreria. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall shop, located right on Via Laietana. I don't recall there being a sign above the door.
The place was indeed small upon walking in and we were lucky to find seating at the counter. We ordered churros con chocolate, cafe de leche, espresso, and porras (we actually didn't know what they were called initially, but pointed to the large, thick, curled donuts in front of us). The churros tasted fresh - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Too good! Even better were the porras, which were similar to the texture of Portuguese malasadas. Amazing and irrisistible! We ordered a second plate of the porras. That's how good they were.
