Stayed here for 4 nights in November 2012 on a solo trip. The hostel was easy to find and is walking distance from the metro station and La Rambla. The hostel staff Angel and Cynthia are exceptionally warm and friendly people to deal with, always going the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. Facilities are good and in the evenings everyone gathers in the kitchen conservatory to eat the home cooked dinners prepared by hostel staff for free (which really are excellent and worth staying in for). Breakfast buffet food selection is also great.

Couldn't really expect more from a hostel. 5/5

Good air-conditioning, nice staff, great breakfast and free dinner, comfy beds, fun decor, and on a pretty street. The location could be a little closer to the main attractions, though. Just wish I could have booked more nights!

Close to metro station. Comfy beds. Amazing staff. Dinners cooked by the staff is a ++ and a great way to meet people. The food was so good, I never had to pay for dinner while in Barcelona, which is a good thing when backpacking.

This was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. The rooms and facilities were all totally functional and comfortable, the kitchen really convenient and it was a huge advantage having such wonderful air conditioning in the hot Barcelona summer. But what really set the hostel apart was the friedliness and helpfulness of the staff. 24 hour reception, sightseeing tips, transport help etc.. Hostel One Paralelo also offered us the chance to be treated like real friends, to be heartily welcomed. The dinners each night are delicious and a great way to meet people and the staff also were constantly chatting and helping us, even showing us good bars, restaurants and clubs with cheaper prices. Thanks Angel, Cynthia and Adrian!

The only negative I have about the hostel would be the location- the streets around it are quite dirty and a little seedy and dodgy. However, it is well connected to the metro, and overall highly recommended.

From the moment we stepped in the door, Hostel One was incredible. Instantly we felt like part of a family. Adrian was wonderful helping us get settled in and planning what to do for our stay in Barcelona, even teaching me how to make Spanish coffee! Angel was so wonderful, and made an incredible family style dinner on our first night. Cynthia was fabulous, and Dean was incredibly helpful making our last day smooth and easy!

The communal areas encouraged guests to get to know each other and socialize, with something for everyone to do. There is also a hottub, though we didn’t end up getting in! (But still very cool). The rooms and shower are a bit small... but cmon... its a hostel, get over it. The neighborhood shops were seemingly always open, and helpful for last minute supplies (and with incredibly friendly staff). I really can't say enough good things about our experience there

In essence the staff is unbeatable, the atmosphere incredible, the rooms comfortable, the showers actually work, and the experience unforgettable. We'll be back!!!

I have stayed in several hostels around Europe and South America and Hostel One is definitely one of my favourites.
The staff- Angel and Adrian are definitely some of the friendliest and offer heaps of travelling advice. Even when I was feeling sick they went out of their way to make me hot beverages to make me feel better.
The free dinners were not only delicious but were also a good opportunity to meet all the other guests. Will definitely come back here when I return to Barcelona.
