“Great place! However, noisy street-side rooms.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

We stayed 3 nights August 2013. Clean, recently renovated, modern decor, well situated near subway stops and buses, Plaça de Catalunya and Las Ramblas. Walking to any of the previous named places, several grocery stores and restaurants are easy, simple and you get to enjoy Barcelona neighborhoods.

You can book your stay with breakfast included. Breakfast includes fruits, cheeses, local cold cut meats, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage or ham, breads, jams, Nutella and other spreads, cereals, juices, milk, and excellent espresso coffee. The breakfast counter was well-stocked and kept very clean and organized by Melissa (smiling and friendly!). You can enjoy it on their terrace or inside the brightly lit breakfast room.

The rooms are on the small side and the a/c unit in our first room was very noisy. We had two stays in the month. Our first room was on street-side (although we had specifically asked for inside room). If you have a hard time sleeping, avoid like the plague, unless you believe the offer is too good to refuse. The three of us were up all night (real nightmare). Imagine sleeping on a busy major city intersection on the balcony; that is exactly how we felt. Kudos to Eduard who found a resolution to the problem by giving us another room. They did say they have guests who do not mind the street-side rooms. I do have to admit it was a very large room with a nice view of the street. Personally, we would never return unless they guaranteed an inside room (although be prepared as inside rooms do seem smaller). The rooms are well laid out, have a mini bar and table (desk), modern flat screen television and the best water shower pressure we've had anywhere during our travels (be prepared to use many towels on the floor as they are open type showers...never understood this)! Kudos to Daniela (front desk) for all her help! Both Eduard and Daniela made excellent restaurant suggestions! We did get a suggestion from another front desk person for La Muscleria. We did not enjoy the latter restaurant. We have far superior muscle restaurants in Canada.

If you book a taxi from the hotel, be prepared, they arrive with the meter running (almost 5 Euro by the time we got our bags in). You are better off to take one on the street or walk to Placa de Catalunya.

We would return as our second room was quiet and comfortable!

Room Tip: For a quiet room ask for an inside room. Cooler rooms are at lower levels.

We stayed here for 3 nights.
Very clean, friendly helpful staff
Breakfast was nice
Free 24hr wifi
Looks recently renovated with sheik/deco monochrome decor, looks great. Feels like a very expensive hotel for half the cost
Would recommend!

Excellent and friendly service, on a main Street close to the old city. Well located for walking tours. Three blocks from Plaza Del Catalunya. Staff made exellent recomendation for dinner two blocks away.

We were upgraded to a rear room (away from traffic noise) with a large balcony. When booking request a room at the back, very quiet. The bathroom is a bit tight, but all amenities are first rate. Good shower, flat screen TV, big mirrors.

Room Tip: On a busy Street quiet romos are in the back.

I just returned from Spain. The Granvia was the last hotel we stayed in. What a treat. this Hotel had just completed a total renovation, very tastefully done throughout. The front desk manager (Eduard) a friendly man was extremely helpful in many ways. Our room was beautifully decorated, with a well appointed bath. We had a fabulous view of the street from the third floor. The breakfast was set in another beautiful room with a full selection of food, there is also an extensive outdoor patio making it possible to have it outdoors. I sat outside there just before checking out. A memorable place in a memorable city.
If you stay there you thoroughly enjoy it.

This was our first trip to Barcelona....and certainly won't be our last! We will definitely return and stay at The Granvia as it was excellent in every way. On arrival we were really impressed with the 'grandness' of the interior - it has recently been refurbished and everything is spotless. We loved the 1930s art-deco style. Our family room was very spacious and situated at the rear making it very quiet. We also found that there was very little, if any, noise from other guests. Eduard checked us in at Reception. He is a charming chap who speaks excellent English and is really helpful. He gave us a map and directions to all the places we wanted to visit. The hotel is so close to many of the main attractions and we could walk to lots of them....along La Rambla down to the port and Barceloneta; the cathedral, the Pedrera, the Sagrada Familia and of course all the shops and cafes, bars and restaurants along the way. We had breakfast at the hotel.....this was buffet style with a large variety of hot and cold items. Although we felt it might have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, this was available in the dining room all day, and there was a small fridge in the room which was useful. There is also a lovely seating and library area with comfy leather sofas and two computers, as well as an attractive outdoor terrace. The hotel provides an oasis of calm which is ideal to come back to and relax in after the hustle and bustle of this fabulous city!

Room Tip: A rear family room for less noise.

A truely beatuiful and luxurious hotel! The recent renovations have truely bought out the beauty of the building and no detail is left out.
The rooms are like new with a classic chic yet modern simplicity. The reception, dining room and terrace make you feel like you're in an 1000 euro a night hotel yet the prices are surprisingly reasonable.
The location is just perfect - just off Passeig de Gracia, right next to the metro station and a 2 min walk from Placa Cataluna which makes it the perfect hub for a shopping or tourist holiday.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful with whatever was needed.
Cannot recommend this hotel enough, we didn't want to leave!
