We stayed 3 nights August 2013. Clean, recently renovated, modern decor, well situated near subway stops and buses, Plaça de Catalunya and Las Ramblas. Walking to any of the previous named places, several grocery stores and restaurants are easy, simple and you get to enjoy Barcelona neighborhoods.
You can book your stay with breakfast included. Breakfast includes fruits, cheeses, local cold cut meats, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage or ham, breads, jams, Nutella and other spreads, cereals, juices, milk, and excellent espresso coffee. The breakfast counter was well-stocked and kept very clean and organized by Melissa (smiling and friendly!). You can enjoy it on their terrace or inside the brightly lit breakfast room.
The rooms are on the small side and the a/c unit in our first room was very noisy. We had two stays in the month. Our first room was on street-side (although we had specifically asked for inside room). If you have a hard time sleeping, avoid like the plague, unless you believe the offer is too good to refuse. The three of us were up all night (real nightmare). Imagine sleeping on a busy major city intersection on the balcony; that is exactly how we felt. Kudos to Eduard who found a resolution to the problem by giving us another room. They did say they have guests who do not mind the street-side rooms. I do have to admit it was a very large room with a nice view of the street. Personally, we would never return unless they guaranteed an inside room (although be prepared as inside rooms do seem smaller). The rooms are well laid out, have a mini bar and table (desk), modern flat screen television and the best water shower pressure we've had anywhere during our travels (be prepared to use many towels on the floor as they are open type showers...never understood this)! Kudos to Daniela (front desk) for all her help! Both Eduard and Daniela made excellent restaurant suggestions! We did get a suggestion from another front desk person for La Muscleria. We did not enjoy the latter restaurant. We have far superior muscle restaurants in Canada.
If you book a taxi from the hotel, be prepared, they arrive with the meter running (almost 5 Euro by the time we got our bags in). You are better off to take one on the street or walk to Placa de Catalunya.
We would return as our second room was quiet and comfortable!
