“Lovely little hotel”
Reviewed November 21, 2011

Lovely little hotel in the centre of Barcelona. Room was suprisingly spacious for a city centre hotel and had all the facilities needed for a short break. Service was attentive and friendly and our total lack of Spanish didn't bother them at all. Breakfasts were tasty and plentiful. Our only issue was the noise during the night, but quite frankly, what else does one expect from a city centre hotel in the middle of one of the busiest cities in Europe?
I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, stay away from the front facing rooms.

Some charm, rooms are small, but adequte, clean , +hotel has helpful, friendly service. Quiet although close to Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya. Most of all, a great value at 125 Euros per night including extended continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room, and a quiet one.

My Husband and two children ages 8 and 5 stayed for 4 nights and we were made very welcome and comfortable. We arrived in the pouring rain and we paid a small token of 2 euros for our clothes to be dried.
The hotel is very well situated in the lively and authentic University area, we felt very safe.
The breakfasts were lovely, and our children loved the great variety inc Spanish treats of cake melon, cheese and ham, and also cocoa pops, and yogurt,

The decor was interesting , but what I particually valued was the extreemly helpful and staff.
I would definatly recommend..and
would love to go back ..next time without the children...!

Room Tip: we had a room at the back of the hotel and it was very comfortable and quiet.

We stayed here for 2 nights as it was listed as an historical hotel. The very friendly greeting,
luggage room and safe for storing passports as we arrived at 8AM were appreciated. The hotel
is fascinating to look at all the photos and Spanish design in furniture. The breakfast included was a pleasant start to our sightseeing days. Great location just minutes from Las Ramblas
(where you want to stroll with the locals, look at the food market and of course eat the fabulous food Barcelona is noted for). Good bus from airport - also took the metro which was very easy or walked the boulevard many times. Only problem was directions from the airport bus to the hotel were not clear and we had to ask 5 people for directions. Good value as Barcelona is pricey with the Euro for North Americans. Clean, friendly and we'll be back.

Room Tip: Keep at the back off the street - our room was quiet except for noisy neighbours when they came in a...

a refreshing change to stay in a hotel with character but within an easy walk of la ramblas. staff are helpful and friendly, breakfast is excellent. our rooms were at the front of the hotel, noisy as there is no double glazing, so would suggest taking ear plus if your are a light sleeper.
would definitely stay there again, a great long weekend to celebrate my birthday.

Room Tip: rooms at the front are noisy as no double glazing means you are disturbed by the noise of late night...

This is the first time i have ever been to Barcelona. I went with my mum as a treat for her 70th birthday. We both had a lovely time staying at the Meson Castilla. It was perfect location,we had a room at the back of the hotel and it was lovely and quiet , we never heard a sound at night, just a few minutes walk to La Ramblas and a few minutes walk to Placa Catalonia where everything is happening. The staff at the hotel were more than happy to help with any queries we had and they all spoke excellent English which was a great help. The rooms were perfect and spotlessly clean and a maid came in every day with clean towels etc. The breakfast was served between the hours of 7am and 11am. Again the choice we had was excellent, fresh bread, rolls, toast ,ham ,cheese, boiled eggs, cereals, yogurts, fruit, jams, pastries and of course coffee tea and fruitjuices. It was delicicious and needless to say we looked forward to our breakfast each morning. We would definately go back to this hotel again.

Have stayed in Barcelona may times, but this
hotel is the ideal choice for staying close to the
bustling La Ramblas.
It is a typical traditional Spanish hotel,Staff are very
friendly and speak good english for those who are not
conversant in spanish.
The breakfast is excellent, and can be eaten outside
in a lovely terrace area.
Prices are reasonable,considering the central
location of the hotel.
p.s Ask for a room with a roof terrace, gret view.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a roof terrace
