We had not planned to visit the aquarium due to the reviews saying it was expensive. However we stumbled across it when walking around the port during the rain. I think that the price was in line with what you would pay in England for a sea life centre. There was a great variety of fish with clear descriptions and the interactive explore area was very good for children. My daughter has a habit of always wanting to go to the toilet and they were very easy to find and clean. There were penguins and rays upstairs including a plastic whale which you could walk through. My daughter wanted to mainly see the sharks and loved see through tunnel with the moving floor. At the end of the day if you have been to aquariums with children you have probably seen it all before. I think that it was very good, worth the trip and the money and both my husband and daughter enjoyed it.

The aquarium provided a wide variety of sea/ocean/river creatures. The interactive explore area was great for the children to be more involved and hands on. Some of the tanks were small for the creatures contained within, but I've been to larger, well funded aquariums.

We had this as a prebooked 'treat' during our holiday, and although the website did specify that it didn't include transport, it should first be pointed out that it's not near the centre of Barcelona. Sure, there are buses and an underground train that can take you to it but as we had two pushchairs with us we decided on walking.

It's a pretty walk down La Rambler (one of Barcelona's busiest shopping streets), but it's a LONG way. Anyway, location isn't the fault of the aquarium so I'll move on to what you'll want to hear about.

We live in Bournemouth. It's got an aquarium. We've also been to a couple of Sea Life centres and reading the website and how it's the most important med aquarium we held high hopes... especially given the fairly high cost of entrance. Well, it does what it says on the tin. They've got half a dozen sharks, some with menacing looking teeth, they've also got a nice selection of pretty coloured fish, but the problem is that you can see the whole lot and read every sign (which I should point out around 3/4 are in English) in about half an hour. 45 minutes if you stop, stare, and learn.

When we visited it was a thursday and there were 4 school groups attentively listening/bustling to a variety of guides which themselves didn't present too much of a problem, but in the given space it meant that there were about 8 tanks that we didn't actually get to see at all.

I'd like to turn around and say it was fantastic... but we just came away feeling a bit... meh. It took us an hour to get to Barcelona by train, the day was devoted to the aquarium and little else as we'd also prebooked a city tour the following day, and it just wasn't really worth the journey.

If we'd been in Barcelona anyway and hadn't prebooked it we'd have come away feeling sorely disappointed, but, well... let's just say don't expect to come away enthralled.

It's not bad, but certainly not spectacular. When you hear about "the biggest" you expect to spend more than 30 minutes inside. Well, you wont stay much more than that, and for the price, it's not worth it.

Wonderful presentation of marine life found in various parts of the earth. The glass tank where one can walk under is the main attraction with lots of sharks. The entrance ticket is a bit expensive
