“Lovely owners, lovely hotel, perfect stay”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

Upon arrival I was greeted by Ingrid who was amazingly helpful and friendly, she was from Barcelona but spoke perfect English, but she had incredible local knowledge and helped us plan our trip. Her husband, Adam was also lovely and really cheerful and helpful. Being a hostel boutique I wasn't expecting it too be so beautiful, it was clean, the rooms were lovely and the terrace was lovely. Great location, great stay and I would recommend to anyone going to Barcelona.

I have stayed in many hotels in many Cities in Europe. This was my first trip to Barcelona and one of the best city breaks I have had all thanks to Hostel Khronos! It’s a beautiful, clean, small hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious and well decorated with everything you would need. It is very close to all the main central attractions and easily accessible from the airport links at the centre of the city.

The owners, Adam, Ingrid and Lee are very helpful and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised when they found excellent restaurants for my guest and I to eat dinner, they even organised a taxis. They provided us with plenty of information about the city and what it had to offer, making our stay far more comfortable. The owners are people who clearly take pride in looking after their guests.

My favourite aspect of the hotel is the beautiful roof Terrence where you can sit and have a drink before you head out for dinner, or eat a reasonable breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend staying here; you CANT go wrong at this price!

Stayed here for one night, the owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a double room with a balcony over looking the road, and there was enough room to sit out and have a drink. There was also a nice roof patio area to eat and have drinks on too. Great location only ten min walk to la rambla and a ten min walk in other direction to sagrada familia. Very good value for money!

Just back from a 3 night stay at hostel boutique Khronos. Wanted something at a reasonable price which was in a good location and this definitely was. It is to the standard of most 3 star hotels so do not be put off by the hostel name. The staff Adam his wife and lee were really friendly and helpful. The hostal is small, quiet, clean and very modern. It has a huge terrace where you can relax. The rooms are really big and very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with really good strong showers! Each room has a tv with lots of channels and there is free wifi throughout the hostal. Can't recommend this place enough...within walking distance to everything...safe, clean, great prices and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back.

Ingrid and Adam have only been running Hostal Khronos for a few weeks and, judging from old reviews, have already made big improvements. I found the room to be stylish, clean and functional. The bathroom was great, the shower and hot water worked perfectly and the bed was very firm and comfortable. I loved the roof terrace and found the architecture to be full of Barcelona Charm and not at all "spooky" as a previous reviewer has called it. There are three restaurants and bars of varying styles and budgets within 20m of the front door and there's a great market 5 minutes away! The Hostal is in a very stylish part of Barcelona and is a very short walk from the Gaudi classics: La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. The transport hub of Passeig de Gracia Station is a couple of blocks away. I agree with other reviewers that some attention is needed to deal with the noise issue (I think it's the doors and not the walls that are thin) but this is already an excellent base for a cool Barcelona visit and Ingid and Adam are moving it in the direction of fantastic. I do recommend it.

Room Tip: It's nice to have your own balcony but the roof terrace is fantastic even if you don't.

Spent two nights here for our three day visit to Barcelona. The location is really central, handy to Passeig de Gracia -for shops and restaurants, and 15 mins walk to Gaudi's Sagrada Familia. There are several metro stops within 15 mins walk. The owners here - Adam, Ingrid and Lee, all go out of their way to help you find what you need. They told us about great local tapas, helped with the metro connections, and also arranged for a laundry service for us. Our room, while not one with a balcony overlooking the street, was spacious and comfortable. The bed was firm, the shower pressure good and hot. Our window overlooked the outside terrace area, which was a great spot for breakfast. There is also a common area with half a dozen tables and chairs inside, with tea/coffee/toaster/crockery and cutlery. We suggested a fridge in the room would be a good idea, and were told that's one of a number of improvements planned. There is a little supermarket downstairs ten feet from the front door, and two restaurants on the street corners, so the location is ideal. Happy to recommend.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks in July-August. The hotel is really well placed - near the metro stations Diagonal (easy to get to most sights to see) and Verdaguer (a few stops from the beach). The hotel is very cosy and clean. The personnel is very friendly. While we were staying in the hotel, the owners changed. New owners are really client-oriented and professional, which is a surprise for Spain)))) They are really helpful and hardworking and make a serious contrast to the previous owners. My husband got ill when we were in Barcelona and Ingrid (thank you so much, dear!!!) was so kind to help me sort out the problems with the emergency. She also gave us some advice regarding the medicine, which really helped us. The new owners introduced some new service - for example, it's now possible to order some food of drinks. As far as I know, they are also planning to buy small fridges and safe boxes for the hotel rooms. If they do it, that will be really great! To put it short, the hotel is worth visiting, and I am absolutely sure that the new owners will make it even better.
Unfortunately, there's one minus in the hotel. It's rather noisy in there. The walls seem to be made of paper. If you are unlucky to have noisy neighbours, it will be impossible to sleep(((. I hope that the owners will do something to change the situation.
