I here with colleagues and clients following a recommendation from the hotel concierge. We didn't have a reservation, but went early (7 pm - it is Spain...) and they were able to seat five of us. It is far and away the best tapas I've had. The Patatas Bravas were different from any I'd tasted before - almost a barbecue taste to the sauce - and certainly the best.

I would go back to Barcelona to eat more tapas at Bar del Pla. A true highlight of the city.

A friend who lives in the Born, the quarter of Barcelona where this bar is, told me this was one of his favourite tapa places. The guy is studying as cook and he was obviously right: they have two menus, one for traditional tapas and one with the preparations of the day. We visited twice in a week and had 8 or 10 tapas, all excellent.
We' d reccomend the Secreto Iberico (a fatty, super juicy meat cut), the beef tartare with fois gras, the fried artichoke hearts, the black rice paella with mussels and the baccalà with pine nuts, tomato and olives but all the dishes we saw flying around looked great. Make sure you reserve: the place gets packed!

We went here for lunch and they served nice food for a reasonable price. Service is okay and it has a nice atmosphere.

Went on suggestion of our guide. It is near Picasso museum. The food was very good, I especially like the squid.

in El Born area -- recommended by our tour guide -- and another good pick. Menu not as interesting as other places we tried, but the food itself was delicious, and the service was very attentive. Well worth a stop when you're in the neighborhood.
