Returned from 3 nights last week at the Rivoli Hotel. Great location, but would not recommend it. Room 606 was big enough (extra for the upgrade) with quiet balcony at the back. Large bed was fine but useless air con, a hint of cool air but no effect on room temperature. It was 30ºC outside, so uncomfortable sleeping. TV had very limited movement so could not be viewed properly from either the bed or sofa! Bathroom like a sauna, very poor ventilation, a gap in the shower screen resulting in creeping puddles on the floor, a sink plug that didn't and housekeeping couldn't be bothered to replenish shampoo. Breakfast is poor, although presentation looked good and extensive, the hot food was cold on all 3 days, pastries second rate, and horrible coffee from a machine. However, the front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. But overall not good enough for the 4 Star tag.
Tourist Tip! try pre-booking Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, etc, on the internet to avoid the queues.

Just returned from a brilliant four-night stay in the Rivoli and think we made a good choice. We had a superior double room which was absolutely massive, with a separate sitting room complete with its own piano! The bed was super king size and very comfortable and the room overall was excellent, with beautiful full-height French doors onto the small balcony. There are no chairs provided for the balcony so it's more for standing on looking down onto La Rambla and all that's going on down there. The only thing I would say about having a room overlooking La Rambla is that it can be very noisy well into the early hours, so if you're a light sleeper I'd say a room at the front's not for you or take ear plugs. We ate in the hotel on the first night, out on the terrace. The food was fine and extremely good value - three courses, a drink, and coffee for 15 euros a head. We opted not to have breakfast there and ended up in the Starbucks up the road most mornings. Useful to point out that an unobtrusive 'supermarket' has opened opposite which is extremely cheap and useful for stocking up the mini bar. The hotel is a stone's throw from Placa de Catalunya, where the aerobus (A2) from the airport stops, so it's dead convenient. All in all a very good choice.

Room Tip: We had room 19, which was on the first floor at the front. A room higher up might be less noisy at n...

We have just come back from four nights at the Rivoli Ramblas. The situation is exceptional. The staff are pleasant rooms clean but the plus is it being so convenient. Opposite you have a supermarket, plenty of restuarants in the area, near most of the shops. We planned to stay on the Ramblas this time as we have enjoyed the attractions it offers, but unfortunately all these seems to have disappeared. You can find the odd man on his bike etc. at the end of the Ramblas but it is not the same. Stalls now fill the street. It is extremely busy all day you see people walking here and there with suitcases. Tourists now have to pay a daily tax per person payable to the hotel this is 1 Euro 10 per person per day. I think after this trip I have outgrown Barcelona

Room Tip: We chose a room at the back, not a wonderful view but it is quiet. Rooms at the front can be noisy.

The Rivoli hotel is ideally situated on the up Ramblas. It is very clean with a good staff. The internet works well, the beds are good, the hotel is quiet, we had no noise from neighbours or the street. The airport bus stops just around the corner, which is handy. There was daily cleaning and towel change.

In terms of location, you can't argue that this hotel is super convenient. Walking distance from Placa Catalunya (where you can get the Aerobus to/from airport) and at the top end of La Rambla.. It's a tourist's dream. But, if you're also looking for a classy, relaxing hotel.. then for the same money you can find much, much better. The exterior photos of this hotel make it look high end. Inside however, it's incredibly dated..and not in a kitsch way. Salmon pink VELVET bedding as standard. €14 for breakfast each day AND you have to pay €2.50 a day to use the safe in your rm. Not great. We were allocated a rm which was lovely and quiet... until 8.15am on the dot each mornong when the HUGE building works next door kicked off with concrete hammer drilling all day every day. If you have a front facing rm, expect the same plus the noise from the street below esp on wkends. Staff were pleasant enough, but was it value for money? No way. Shop around.

Great location !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Situated in the city centre on La Rambla, it’s within walking distance to Placa de Catalunya. The harbour was about ten minutes walk. A metro station was 2 minutes up the road and the railway station a ten minutes walk away. Hop on hop off buses start from near to this place and Airport bus stops close to this place.

We got rooms without balconies, with uninspiring colours and were not of high standard. Furniture looked old. Breakfast was good. There were several nearby eating places outside the hotel.

The hotel was definitely not four star grade. Whatever the shortcomings, the front desk people in all the shifts were extremely nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies facing La Ramblas gives good views, but noise from the street can be disturbing
