“Would Go Again!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2008

After researching various clubs in Barcelona, I decided upon Otto Zutz since the reviews were good. It was relatively good - although not quite as I expected. I dont think it was the DJ that was shown on the website on their December line up. The club opens at 12am or around that time, and doesnt really get going until 2am. The entrance fee was 18 Euros. Given the reviews I expected to see people handing out flyers about entering this club for free before a certain time, but no such luck! The coatroom charged an astonishing 4 Euros which is expensive by any standard. The ground floor seemed like the best floor to be on since it was the largest and the music was the loudest - the other floor also had a DJ but you had to stand relatively close to the speaker to stop the music from getting drowned out by the ground floor DJ. We remained on the ground floor and it was jam packed! We managed to get up on the podium to dance which was somewhat more spacious! When we arrived at around 12:30am the DJ appeared to be playing Nirvana and the likes!! Well - first time for everything - and that was definitely my first time of being in a club that played THAT kind of music! This nonsense stopped after 10 minutes, and moved on to mainly R&B and then at around 4am they started playing quite a lot of Ragga (not really my cup of tea, but after a few drinks relatively tolerable!). After an hour it went back to R&B with some dance music. Drinks were around 6 Euros a piece. The mood in the club was great - no trouble seekers, and everyone just wanting to have a good time, which makes all the difference. Dress code is not strict at all with many casually dressed people. Would definitely go again, but this time would double check that on the particular night in question, a DJ that you are familiar with is playing. Would be a great night out of you wanted R&B. Not so great if you were hoping for more dance/trance/electronica. Some funky house was also played towards the end which was cool. Overall, great ambience, slightly over crowded but generally good. Pacha this is not, but all all-round not bad club given that it was away from the tourist area of Barcelona, and not in Ibiza! Be warned, dont go there if you are located miles away since trying to get a cab at 5am is impossible - just like in London after a night out!
