Moderism goes Rococo! Jaw-dropping interiors. A wonderfully sweet, over-the-top example of jubilent colors and movement. If only the war didn't come along and put a stop to this emotional celebration of color, local tradition and whimsical forms.

A tip: instead of having to pay for a tour which has time constraints, we booked seats for an event there: the opera Carmen. This way you can enjoy the whole setting, in its intended function, while enjoying a performance - without being restricted to a tour.

Just book your seats online. This is the way to do it.

We went on a tour. The guide from the Palace showed us into a theatre to watch a film. The English subtitles were too low and could not be seen from the stalls. We then went upstairs to see the concert hall. We investigated seeing a show that evening. A performance of a guitar orchestra was on. However the Box Office could not tell us what pieces were being played or what the dancers were doing - classical or modern. We gave it a miss.

I was afraid this might be touristy. If it is, then count me in as a fan. What a nice surprise. The story telling through dance was phenomenal. I just wish we would have had an English interpretation of the story line.
