I really loved this hotel and the location is simply perfect. The staff at the hotel were both friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and the communal areas are well decorated. I was pleased to find on arrival a bath robe, tooth brush and tooth paste, razor and shaving foam, shampoo, body lotion and shower gel. The safe is secure and easy to use and the mini-bar is well stocked and reasonably priced. The room is tidied and re-stocked each day. The hotel is right in the heart of Barcalona's vibrant and exciting Gothic area but is pleasantly peaceful and quiet at night.

We couldn't wish for a better start to the new week! Thank you very much indeed for your positive feedback, dear guest.

We are very proud of our privately-owned and independently-managed hotel and invest heavy sums in maintenance and improvement works each year. Further, our housekeeping and front desk teams are well aware of the ingredients it takes to ensure our guests a perfect stay in Barcelona.

We truly hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at the Hotel Colón in the near future and send best regards to the British Isles.

Location is key to this place. Very convenient to the great neighborhoods of El Borne and Barrio Gotico--where there are very cute shops and good restaurants. It is great to wander these old gothic streets at night (even alone). It is a 10min walk to Plaza Cataluyna, from where you can get anywhere/everywhere (this is where the bus from BCN drops you and the center of the subway system). Two different subway lines are pretty convenient to the hotel, though staying in this part of town is entertaining enough. The hotel opens onto the Catedral Plaza, where there are always people hanging out... they dance the Sardana here on weekends. The hotel itself is okay--free internet. The room is simply, nothing memorable; clean, no cracked walls, and bathroom is granite and modern. Air is not stale (odd comment, but you find that in some hotels along the Med). I did not eat at the hotel, but the best bakery in BCN is a 7min walk south on Via Laietana. And Carrer de l'Argenteria has an area of all Euskadi Tapas bars, a 5-7min walk as well. I used to live in BCN 10 years back, so it was great to use this as my launching spot to rediscover the old haunts. And the price was fair.

Dear guest:

We are delighted to learn that you used our property to revive past memories. Barcelona has changed dramatically during the past decade – for the better, as you will agree with us. The neighbouring districts of the Hotel Colón have seen the opening of a great number of restaurants, bars and designer boutiques and are thus 'the place to be' - not only for sightseeing but also for enjoying Barcelona's lively nightlife.

We are pleased to see that our guests endorse our quality-price ratio and will continue to offer excellent value for money in Barcelona.

Sincerely,
Hotel Colón, Barcelona

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel.
1. Great location: just a few steps to metro, the hop-on-hop-off tourist bus, carpark, and the cathedral. It's in Bari Gothic area - we really enjoyed our evening walk around that district.
2. Great view: just right in front of the cathedral. Excellent!!
3. Staff: very informative.
You will not go wrong with this hotel. We're really happy with this hotel.

Thanks to its privileged location, our property is very popular with seasoned travellers who wish to capture the essence of Barcelona and be within touching distance of Barcelona's most prominent tourist attractions. In fact, many of our rooms command views over Barcelona's breathtaking Cathedral.

We stayed at the Colon Hotel for 4 nights in August 2011. We made a reservation over the internet for a family room for 4 people as we were travelling with our two teenage sons. The room was great. In fact, it really was 1 room connecting into a second room, with a real door between the two (privacy !) each room with its own little balcony overlooking the Gothic Cathedral (right across the square). The air conditionning worked really well (a must in August) and the rooms were very clean. This is an old hotel that has been refurbished a few years ago. Slick and modern it is not and the lobby looks a little bland. But the hotel itself has a lot of old world charm. I would definitely go back there again because at a very reasonable price, it offers an excellent location, great comfort and uncompromising cleanliness. A very good deal indeed.
