We had two interconnecting rooms, city view. Wow it was great to watch the light changing and see every sight from our 14th floor windows. The rooms were immaculate, beautiful bathrooms, seating areas and such comfy beds.

Not sure about overall food quality, my only slight problem.

There at the same time as The Rolling Stones, they were OK but their bodyguards were a bit heavy with one or two guests wanting photos from a distance which, in a public place, is a bit naughty.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Arts. I am trying to find flaws, but i am having a very difficult time. Yes the extras are very expensive, but its the Ritz. You should expect that going in. The rooms were amazing. We had a suite on the 28th floor with a double exposure. One side overlooking the city (facing Sagrada Famiglia), and the other the sea. The service at the hotel was top notch. From the bell boy to the concierge, to the staff at the spa. Everyone was at their best. The restaurant (aurola) was fantastic. We had the tasting menu, and 9 out of 10 ( i think there were 10) plates were exquisit. Next time i am in Barcelona, i am staying at the Arts.
happy travels to everyone

location is about 20 mins walk to La ramblas - right on the sea
its 30 storeys high the reception is on the first floor - staff are fabulous - lots of them are doing courses from other countries and work in Hotel Arts as part of their course - very small wages apparently. We arrived and checked in smoothly then led to a room where we were offered a welcome drink and a huge variety of food - excellent! Our rooms were not ready so we decided to go for a walk.
Arrived back at 3pm and shown our 2 Executive rooms on the 24th floor. Huge rooms well kept, the hallway off the lifts showed some wear, dirt marks on walls and doors had paint chipped off. Bedroom was separate to living area, 2 plasma tvs with lots of channels, great sound system and shades to make the room dark. At night it got quite noisy and could still hear the sirens up high where we were. Amazing views of city at night and during the day...one in particular of an odd shaped building coloured with red and blue lights that went out at midnight ?!

Beautiful bathroom - lots of fluffy towels and robes and plenty of toiletries. A bottle of water and chocolate were left each night at turn down together with on the first night a pair of slippers.
Breakfast was included and was outstanding. Lots of good food and great coffee and again service was beyond reproach.

Great pool and spa on 2nd floor, didnt eat in hotel restaurant.
Barcelona itself is a great looking city but the people dont extend themselves to tourists or at least not to english speaking ones. A restaurant to try in town is 7 Doors - lots of locals and tourists agree!

  • Liked — views from room, food, spa, great staff
  • Disliked — the doormen / concierge werent knowledgeable

The Hotel Arts is in a great location. It has some wonderful aspects to it... comfortable rooms, the bars, the pool, close to metro, easy to walk to the Gothic Quarter and El Born area. But, mind the sloooow guest elevators! The extras are pricey, but it is a Ritz, so what does one expect. The rooms are lovely and the staff is very nice and helpful. It's also right off the beach and the Marina area, which has lots of restaurants and clubs. One thing that is annoying, is that the lower entrance area is always full of cars and taxis. This is problematic when you're trying to walk out to the street and you have to meander around vehicles and dodge cabs.

Giving it 3 stars, because for a 5 star property, the hotel did not live up to expectations. The rooms are wonderful (5 stars), the staff OK (4 stars), the restaurants I would not recommned (1 or 2 stars). When I plan trips, I am always wondering what the "extras" cost at the hotel, so here are a few prices for you so that you can better plan your budget/trip.

50 minute massage = 120 Euros + 16% tax
50 minute facial = 115 Euros + 16% tax
Coke from mini bar = 7 euros + 7% tax
Water from mini bar = 6-8 euros + 7% tax
Cup of coffee in room = 4 Euross + 7% tax (No, the coffee is not free!!!)
Room service breakfast = 29-35 euros + 6 euro delivery charge + 7% tax.
Room service sandwich = 22-24 euros + 6 euro delivery charge + 7% tax
OK, you get the idea! To get a sense of what things cost outside the hotel, a coffee and croissont at the cafe outside the hotel was 2.4 euros and large bottle of water usually costs 1.5 o3 2 euros. A bottle of coke was 1.40 euros. A sandwhich is between 3-6 euros usually. I would mind paying so much at Hotel Arts if I felt like the quality and service met the prices, but sadly it didn't (I could even eat my main course at the Marina Bar restaurant, it was so bland and tasteless and my friend hated his appetizer and could not eat it)

Also, while the hotel is near the beach, it is a bit away from the other sites. A taxi to La Ribera/El Born (great bars and restaurants) is about 5 or 6 euros, about 7-10 to Las Ramblas. The metro is 2 short blocks from the hotel, so I used that a lot.

  • Liked — Very nice rooms (great shower, plasma tv, views, comfortable bed)
  • Disliked — Felt like I was being nickled and dimed for everything at the hotel.

Just got back from a weekend staying at the Arts. I booked this hotel for our 10yr wedding anniversary and had been very much looking forward to our stay.

Our flight arrival was 9am and although our room was not to be ready until 3pm, we checked in and left our bags with the bellboys. The hotel called at 2pm to say the room was ready so we headed back. I had booked an executive suite and not 1 of the staff explained anything about needing to use the key in the lift to access our room on the 31st floor. The suite was very nice, a little worn in places, it was a non smoking stuite and there was a bad cigarette burn on 1 of the sofas and some bad stains on the carpet, but all in all the views were magnificant and we were happy with the accomodation, lovely bed & pillows and beautiful bathrooms but watch out for the mini bar - very expensive 8€ for a bottle of beer!

The service in their Bites restaurant is appalling, the staff just generally ignored us and we had to keep asking to be served, the food was OK but on other occasions when we just wanted coffee, by the time it arrived it was cold. The service in their bar is quick, but they forget what you have had to drink and ask you to confirm what you had when you get the bill!!

Not 1 of the staff informed us of the executive club lounge that we had complimentary access to, we found this out too late on in the stay. Nobody told us anything about the hotel regarding the spa or the pool and we just generally felt that after spending a great deal of money that the service really let down our stay and although we loved Barcelona we would not stay at the Arts again.

  • Liked — The suite was beautiful with fantastic views of the marina
  • Disliked — The hotel is let down greatly by the bad service & lack of info for visitors
