It's a trek from the metro station, especially the last bit up the hill, but worth it.
The park is free but buy a timed ticket for the monumental zone. When we arrived at 12.00 midday tickets for 1.30 were being sold. That was no problem as you can have a gentle stroll around the park area getting higher and higher and all the time seeing better views over Barcelona.
By timing visitors to the monumental zone it never gets really crowded except by the exit gate.
Toilets are limited in the park area but the ones in the monumental zone are less busy.
You have to go, but try to pick a clear day just for the views!
