Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica

This place is fantastic!!! You absolutely must go inside! I have seen many people just stop by the entrance for a few photos but did not go inside, which is really unfortunate as they have missed out on the best place they could have seen in Barcelona! The basilica is absolutely magical inside with the light shining through stained glass of the windows. It is a must see!!!

Recommend going in the afternoon so the sunlight is reflected through the stained glass window. The cathedral is not as big as others in spain but still worth seeing

Its an overwhelming feeling to witness such an enourmous and well thought through piece of art. I did not know much about Gaudi in advance but this certainly caught my interest! It was just fascinating. Not sure if it was necessary for us to skip the line in this season but I dont think it was more expensive. If so I think that we got a lot of interesting information from the guide. I liked that we got audio so that we could walk around more freely as he spoke. It was crowdy though, and I got the sense that the guide had done this (a thousand) times before, more enthusiasm please! I recommend everyone who travels to Barcelona to visit this church.

The grandeur of Gaudi’s creative and artistic mind is magnificent. It’s an amazing place with intricate details of the structural designs that connects every pieces & matters of nature into an elaborate design. The union of light and wide space creates an exhilarating reflection of what Gaudi and the team wants us to express upon witnessing this stunning architectural designs.

Went here as part of a day that only involved two attractions & it didn’t disappoint, booked online the day before & wow the architecture is amazing & to say Gaudi was ahead of his time would be an understatement.......... would love to see it when the renovations are complete in 2026
