Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

We did not buy our tickets in advance but did not have a long wait to get in as we arrived early for a place in line. This place is an amazing piece of architecture. The museum and history of the building of it and the architect was wonderful. I have never seen such a place before. Would love to see it when it is completed. Don't miss this if you are in Barcelona.

Be prepared, there's always a line. It moves quickly, and it's totally worth the wait.
The structure is awesome, the colors are beautiful. Make sure you look at the details on the pillars and doors around the outside of the church as well, it's freaking awesome.

With the line-ups literally completely around the structure - book tickets online in advance. The other worthwhile option is to just look at the outside of this amazing structure and try to understand the minds that have brought it to this state.

Fantastic!! Do not miss this! The architecture is so varied and the design brilliant. We waited 2 hours, and then found out we could have used our phone, free wifi at the cafe around the corner, and then walked 4 blocks east to the Caixa bank to print out the tickets.

The basilica is still a work in progress after more than a century, clearly shown from the scaffolding on the outside. We thought the design rather unique and very imaginative.

When we got inside, we were in awe! What genius Gaudi was! There's nothing else like it!
We thought the sculpturing outside was unusual art, but the inside is just amazingly beautiful! The architecture in its simplicity and thoughtfulness is well shown. You must see it for yourself to appreciate it! We suggest this basilica a "Must See" if you are in Barcelona, or in the region!

Well, the line for the tickets was long but moved very quickly, so don't fret! Of course, it will be better to get the ticket on line first. Crowds in September not too bad, there's lots of room for everyone.

This is definitely a place we will revisit.
