After waiting for an hour to buy a ticket in an endless queue, I was not in an appreciative frame of mind. Though the architecture of the exterior is radically different, when you have been dragging your feet in the sun for this long, it takes more than a few spires to capture your attention- I was just wanting a cool drink. However, as I entered the church, I was awestruck by this inspiring building- like no other building, the Sagrada Familia uplifts the moment.
It truly was a spiritual experience. The light, the soaring ceilings, the stained glass, the reverence-Gaudi has designed a masterpiece worth queueing for hours. After taking dozens of photos, I paused to pray, and give thanks that such extraordinary vision can be fulfilled. I would willingly return to Barcelona regularly, just to spend time in this holy place, and to check on its progress.More
