Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

One of the best, most unique and interesting cathedrals in Europe. Modern, peaceful, like being in a giant colorful indoor forest. The outside is pretty cluttered, under construction, and somewhat garish, but the inside is completely different. Depending on how busy you are, the tower visit may not be worth the wait (ask how long it is when you buy your ticket), but it does afford a nice view of the city and spiral stairs on the way down. (Not for the claustrophobic among you or afraid of heights) But, you can get a better view of Barcelona at Park Gruell (Also worth a visit).

We went right when it opened, and that was a really good move considering how busy it got later on. (And this was in Feb, not really full-blown tourist season)

This is a one of a kind place. There is no other church like it on earth. Gaudi's grand design is apparent, but later generations have added their own touches. It feels as if it is an enormous living thing, growing up out of the ground from seeds planted by heaven. So many unique and interesting details to explore, both inside and out. I could spend hours just looking at the nativity facade. The beautiful light from the stained glass on the inside is just magical.

Buy tickets in advance to skip the lines. If you can, get a tour guide who knows Thier stuff to help you explore. It will be we'll worth the money.

The most wonderfull of all Gaudis projects. Just magnificent covers it. You never get teired looking at ot, always something new to the eye. However there are manu people, so this time we did not go inside, saved that for next time. But it is graet to just look at the outside of what will probably be the last building taking so long to build.

A piece of art and ingenuity! simply magical place that depicts the greatness of Antony Gaudi's work and the new kind of architecture he created. A must see in Barcelona.
