Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

I was initially going to avoid this but glad I went. Was surprisinly moving. Definitely get the "fast pass" access otherwise you will be waiting for many, many hours.

I just wanted to say: If you visit Barcelona, it will be a big waste if you miss out on viewing and being apart of this history. Since then, I am constantly and passionately recommending this place to my friends.

like nothing you have seen before. no wonder its been almost 100 years and no end in sight. as gaudi used to say, when they asked him-when is it going to be finished? - dont you worry, my client is in no rush, God has all the time in the world.
its huge, its tall, old, beautiful. cold inside. i wish i got a guided tour, but the elevator trip was def worth doing also.

I have both an Amex and a Visa and still cannot process to buy a ticket via Ticket master (though I had ordered with them before, with the same Visa card) for visiting Sagrada Familia in March. I called them this morning and a very unfriendly women told me that Amex is only for local card (how would I guess???) and I cannot book a ticket over the phone. Though on their website it is indicated the opposite.
