Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

“WOW”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Have visited before but only from the outside, this time we went inside and WOW what a design, we went on the hour long guided tour which was great as the guide told us everything we needed to know about the building and Gaudi, we then went up into one of the towers which was great to get a view of the city and of the tower itself. A visit inside this landmark should be on anyones list of things to do whilst in Barcelona.

“for the ones who like queuing”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

great, but too difficult to get inside... there was a queue that would last longer than two hours before we could step inside. We would have liked to see the interiors too...

“Amazing building! Salute to you Gaudi”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

It is still under construction but it's now very spectacular you will probably get astonished when you walk in there! Worth money to pay for the visit and every 5 years will look different cause it's needing 30 more years to finish off. WOW!

“Amazing inside but...”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

I hated the construction going on around, and not worth the 7 Euros to go up the tower. Loved how the light inside changed over the time we were there, and the old part in the back was way more beautiful. I just don't think it is the number one best place to visit in Barcelona.

“Unbelievable. Do *not* skip this attraction.”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

The exterior of the church is one thing... The interior is something else totally unexpected and magnificent. We bought our tickets online in advance and did mot have to wait in the huge line to get in - highly recommended. We also went up the Torre Passio which provided amazing views of rhe city as well as continued amazement of the Church itself. The audioguides were great abd easy to use. We paid 21.30 euro per ticket with no regrets.
Do not skip over this sight!
