This market is a foodies paradise, so much on offer, it was definitely on my to do list whilst in Barcelona having seen it on various cooking programmes. Everything is well displayed, they put effort in to making everything look inviting. You can get tapas from Bar Pinotxo situated right at the front, unfortunately when we visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was closed. The seafood displays have many varities of fish/shellfish and all looked oh so fresh, stores that carry Jamon Iberico that comes from the Black Pig, proudly displayed, and if I remember correctly it was 300 Euros a kilo, we bought just a little to try, and yes very good. There is everything available from Fruit/vegetables! Fruit juices freshly squeezed, Cheeses, Meat to much to list! the children are taken care of with stalls of sweets. La Boqueria is situated near Las Ramblas, and is definitely worth a visit.

wonderful colours, fruits, smells, tapas, drinks, people. You can restore with freshfruit drinks at only 1,50 euros, eat some delicious tapas for less than a 2 euros each. It worth spend more than 1 hour first time to check all shops and next times take what you need for tasting

Absolutely loved this. It was all the food you could imagine contained in one market. Shoppers waiting for fish to be unloaded so they can get the freshest, baby kids, shellfish of every kind, great slabs of beef, hams looking absolutely glorious, local cheese, brains and guts and offal, shiny bright fruit and vegetables and absolute mountains of splendid mushrooms, all beautifully arranged!

Grear atmosphere old shopping market with wide variety of food such as fresh fish, serrano hams, fresh fruit, spices and many more. Not as expensive as expected. Great location near La Rambla. Was there in March 2009.

Visiting this market was the highlight of my trip to Barcelona. I absolutely loved the explosion of colours and there were so many different things to see and try! Essentially, it's a market selling pretty much all kinds of fruits, drinks, jamon, seafood, sweets, chillies etc you can imagine.

Would recommend that you have lunch at one of the many tapas bars scattered around the market then wander around, trying the fruit drinks or eating some of the yummy fruit salads on sale! The tapas bars seem to be crowded all the time but you just have to bide your time and grab any seats as they become available. Most of the vendors do speak a little English but worst case scenario, just point to what you want or ask the local sitting next to you!!! :) If the tapas bars are not your style, there are plenty of restaurants surrounding the market.

If you love taking pictures as I do, then this is definitely a place not to be missed. The stall selling all kinds of sweets, in particular, lends itself to many a colourful photo, as you would have no doubt seen already.

It can get very crowded though so once again, please be careful of your belongings.

This market was my absolute favourite part of Barcelona and I'd strongly recommend that you do not leave Barcelona without visiting this market at least once. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
