The 2.5 hour old city center tour with Catherine was a great experience. Do not miss this opportunity and enjoy the positive attitude and nice small stories of your guide that day throughout the tour. We wanted to participate the second tour, the Gaudi Tour the next day, however could not manage due to some other program. However it will stay as the first item in my to do list for our next Barcelona visit.

Thank you for your words. Calling us "a must in Barcelona" is one of the highest praises we can get. Glad you had such a positive experience with Catherine on your tour. Of course we will pass this on to her.

See you next time around :-)

If you're looking for the best way to get to know Barcelona, get on a Runner Bean tour, as fast as you can. Seriously. You're sitting here reading these reviews so it's obvious you want to maximize your time in this beautiful city and I will tell you (if the 300+ five star reviews haven't convinced you) that it is a great life decision.

If you're really lucky you'll find yourself in the company of Galway's finest- Catherine, leading you in the footsteps of Antoni Gaudi. Her passion for the city and the subject is contagious; you can literally see the excitement twinkling in her eyes. Catherine squeezed volumes of encyclopedic knowledge into 2.5 hours and shared stories, statistics, and insightful theories that brought Gaudi's works to life. Even if you come knowing nothing about the man, you will leave with a new appreciation and ignited curiosity about the life and times of Catalonia's creative genius. Sure, you can read his bio on Wikipedia, but what you get with this tour is an "experience" woven before your eyes that you won't soon forget.

My advice- get yourself to the meeting point at Placa Reial at your very first opportunity because this is hands-down the best way to introduce yourself to the city and get your bearings. It will also get you to think and prime your brain for further exploration as you take in Barcelona. AND, you're hanging with a local for two hours! How can you beat that? Solid guide, solid company, solid experience. Five stars!

Catherine was quite impressed with herself after reading your wonderful review. Your words really made a difference to our day. Thank you so much! I also posted it on our Facebook page. That is how proud of our little company you made us :-)

We will be waiting for you next year on the Old City Tour,

Took the Gaudi walking tour with Jessica as our guide and found her excellent, knowledgeable and well organised....recommend if you like Gaudi, is a good tour to take before going to see his works.

We did two tours with Runner Bean, the Gaudi and the Old City tours.

Our guide for the Gaudi Tour was Catherine, a brilliant and charming young woman from Ireland who is doing graduate work in Barcelona and has a passion for all things Gaudi.

She brought Gaudi and his patrons to life for us during our tour. She is an excellent guide in that she knew her subject matter thoroughly, could respond to any question, kept the tour perfectly paced for her audience, and kept us safe as we walked through the city and used the Metro. (the Metro is spotless and safe and enabled us to go from one end of the city to the other for a few Euros). The guides have headsets with speakers so they can be easily heard by all on the tour.

The "Runner Bean Walking Tours" as its name suggests has no fee, but the guides who lead the tours rely on the tips they receive to pay for their schooling, lodging, etc... And they work very hard to ensure that their tours exceed your expectations so you will be generous with your gratuity.

I know you will be thrilled with the experience.

Catherine was very happy after reading that you enjoyed her tour so much. You made her day. She is actually doing a masters in co-operation with the Picasso Museum this year and, sure, you can throw any questions you want at her ;-)

Thanks a million and hopefully see you again soon,

I've joined both the Gaudi & Old City tour during my recent trip to Barcelona. Both guides (Debbie for Gaudi & Gorka for Old City) were excellent in presentation, information & professionalism. Both tours are a must if you want to know more about Barcelona, it's rich history & beautiful buildings.
