Coming to the Casa de Marcelo the first thing that strikes you is the excellent location. Surrounded by lovely restaurants and terraces in a lovely building. Upon entering the hospitality of the host is engaging and comforting. Not only do you feel at home in the comfortable lobby and room, but you are immediately given a grip on the surrounding location. The area is fantastic - lots of bars and restaurants to choose from and enjoy, but also close to the night clubs and the cultural highlights Barcelona has to offer. Fortunately, in the room there is no hint at what lies beyond the walls and the night is peaceful and quiet. The breakfast at the glass table is basic but lovely and sitting at the large shared glass table is also as friendly as you want to make it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again when we return!

We were extremely fortunate to get a room at Casa de Marcelo on short notice - and it couldn't have been better! Thank you to Olivier and Marcelo for providing us with a very comfortable room, delicious breakfast, perfect location. The shared bathroom (love the blue tiles) was spotless. Especially loved Olivier's tips for restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here while in Barcelona for work during Primavera Sound. The owners were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to save some breakfast me because they knew I was keeping really late hours with being at a music festival (so sweet!)They also let me and my colleague (who wasn't staying at the hotel) work out of the reception room one afternoon.

Clean, lovely local vibe, good wifi. Would absolutely stay there again. Good for single travellers, business trips, couples, friends.

Room Tip: Note that not all rooms have an en-suite bathroom.

Definitly a hotel I would stay another time. No surprises (just the good ones), the staff were really kindly and helpful, we arrived early (10h am) and since our bedrom was ready they let us get in. The localization is the best: really next to barceloneta beach (beautiful!), and next to the subway. The breakfest was amazing (even the glasses and dishes are cute) and the bathroom was REaLLY clean all the time (we stayed and a bedrom with shared bathroom). Perfect!

We had a great stay in Barcelona, before and after a recent cruise. This guest house is very nice and is located in a great area of the city. It is an easy walk to most everything including hundreds (no exaggeration) of fun little restaurants and bars. The best part of Casa Marcelo are the hosts...Marcelo, Nick and Suzanna were great and went out of their way to help us. After an all night flight we were very tired and they made up our room in quick order and allowed us to check in at 10:00 am. I would definitely stay here again, and would have no problem recommending this to friends.

I have just got back today from a 5 night stay in Barcelona and at Casa de Marcelo with my girlfriend and have nothing but great things to say about this place. The experience could not have been better!

Upon landing in Barcelona, i called Casa de Marcelo (as advised to do so through email communication) and spoke to Olivier (hopefully spelling his name correctly!) to let him know that we would be on our way and he assured us that he would be there to greet us and get things all sorted out.

We got to the hotel in a taxi, which cost just over 30 euros, we were greeted by Olivier, who helped with luggage up to the room. He then sat us down and gave us advice on things to do, places to visit and eat and also some safety guidelines (mainly about pickpockets!). He even drew them all on a map for us. He also gave us a number for us to call at any time for any queries or help that we needed.

Every day a delicious breakfast is put on the table and is available between 09:00 and 11:00. There is various breads, pastrys, fruits, home-made jams and all the tea and coffee you can drink. The breakfast tea available is delicious.

The staff are all then on hand throughout the day if you need anything. They all speak fantastic English and are all very charming and charismatic.

As a quick tip, you should visit the cocktail bar a few doors down. The drinks aren't the cheapest available, but i guarantee you will not have better! Watching the chap make the cocktails is something i could do all night - he puts so much into every single one and the presentation is magnificent!

I also recommend taking a Segway tour and renting out bikes.

I will definitely stay here again when i visit Barcelona!

I want to say nothing but nice things about this place. The people are welcoming, helpful, and lovely. We arrived tired from an all night flight and were delighted that our room was ready for us at 10am even though check in time is 3pm. It's an easy walk to Las Ramblas, and there are plenty of nice places to eat within a few steps of the hotel. Breakfast is generous and includes fresh juice and plenty of fruit. Rooms are small, but ours was fine. Only a couple of rooms have a bathroom (ours did); others have shared facilities. We had a balcony facing the street, and there was traffic noise from the main avenue as well as noise from the two cafes in the small alley on which the hotel entrance is located (but it got quiet by midnight). We kept the window closed; in the hot weather, you'd have a choice of noise or air! (However, I noticed there is at least one room with no windows at all, which would bother me a lot more than street noise.)

Room Tip: I would avoid the rooms with no windows! And be aware not all rooms have en suite bathrooms.
