This restaurant is definitely worthy of a special occasion meal. The service is impeccable but not overly stuffy as some of these high end establishments can be. Even your partners handbag is worthy of special treatment as they bring a cushioned stool so that it doesn't have to sit on the floor!

The food is cooked perfectly and well presented. One tip is if you want the full 3 courses but concerned on portion sizes you can order a half portion of some of the starters (but not all so you need to ask).

Recently visited this restaurant on a trip to Barcelona. The food was outstanding, both in terms of quality, taste and presentation. The waiter service was personal and not intrusive with some excellent recommendations. The sommelier recommended fantastic wine pairings to accompany our selections we had made from the menu, and not overly expensive, at around £25-£30 a bottle.

We were exceptionally pleased with our experience and would definitely go back when returning to Barcelona again. Nothing was too much for the team and they even gave us a tour of the kitchen after our meal to meat the surprisingly young, but very talented team of chefs who even took time out for a photo, despite the fact they still had a busy restaurant to prepare food for.

I ordered the Jabugo’s ham “Gran Reserva”, “coca” artisan bread with tomato and arbequina olive extra virgin, which was a larger serving than I expected. The ham was divine and the accompanying toasted ciabatta was crisp and fresh.

For main, I ordered the Roasted beef sirloin with pepper sauce and accompanying seasonal vegetables. The sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare all the way through and was exceptionally tender. I suspect it was cooked in a sous vide and then finished on a very hot grill.

Dessert was a spectacle to behold. Chocolate and praline surprise ball with cognac XO ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce. It arrived as a frozen ball in a large bowl, over which the waiter poured the hot chocolate sauce, imploding the dessert into a delicious soup of cream, chocolate and cognac :) Yum!!

We were pleasantly surprised by the amuse-bouche which on our evening, was a elegant trio consisting of a coconut rum milkshake, a butternut squash terrine, and a mushroom brioche, pressed into the shape of a shell. This was followed by a further course of soup which was an east-asian styled pork and noodle, served with pork infused bread balls.

All in all, it was a fantastic night out and I would recommend to friends and colleagues. Our evening for 4 people, which included 3 bottles of wine, the 6 courses (inc. coffee and petit fours), water and tip came in just under £100pp which I would consider to be excellent value for a restaurant of this calibre.

Would I visit again? Most certainly.

Hofmann has the unique attributes as being a Michelin starred restaurant as well as a superb culinary school. The extensive menu provides everyone with suficient choices to ensure that an outstanding dining experience is achieved. It also turns out that it was an easy walk to the restaurant from our hotel the Barcelona Renaissance.
I would certainly go back again when I am in Barcelona the next time.

If you like the best food, unique flavors and presentation of the dishes, Hofman is your place...
Don't worry about anything else. We had the chance to eat at almost every Michelin star restaurant in Europe, and believe me, this is one of the best meals I ever had. I used to travel for work for more then 20 years and eat at a lot of places for bussines, Hofman was a great surprise for us.
Deserts are amazing or to die for...Take your time and Enjoy !!!
