“Well-positioned budget hotel in a beautiful city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2012

The hotel is located near Sants Estacio (train service to/from airport) and is close to metro stop Placa des Sants (within 5 min walk), in a residential area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms are small but very clean with bright colors and have everything one needs to be comfortable and clean. Air conditioner in the room was very much appreciated as it can be quite hot and humid in Barcelona.

Beds are comfortable, not extremely long but enough for average height. The length of bed could be a problem for people who are over 6 feet and are not used to having feet dangling outside of the bed. There are no desk/chairs in my room (room 6) and there are only some hangers but no closet. It's a minimalist hotel, but for travelers who will be out most of the day doing sightseeing and will only return to the room for rest, this hotel is perfect, especially with the great price.

There is a buffet breakfast available at the hotel for 6.50 euro, which I did not take. There is a great local bakery (Kessler Galimany) very close to the hotel which has small sandwiches, croissants, baquettes and espresso drinks. For people with smaller appetite, breakfast at the bakery would be more economical.

I highly recommend this hotel for travelers who are looking for a clean room and a good night sleep with a budget price - light sleepers may want to ask for a room at a higher floor or bring ear plugs. I will definitely stay at Live & Dream again when I go back to Barcelona next time.

Room Tip: Light sleepers may want to ask for rooms not directly above the lobby - the door opening and closing...

Barcelona is an expensive city for the budget traveller to stay. Thankfully, this brilliant hotel has everything you need as a base for Barcelona. 5 minutes walk to the local metro station Placa de Sants (which runs two lines, which is additionally useful) and 10 minutes from a main station Sants Estacio (which is conveniently on the airport rail line). We used the metro a lot, and for 10 metro journeys it costs just 9.75 Euros. Clean, timely and efficient, what need is there to be based right in the centre?
The rooms were extremely modern, comfortable and decently sized for the price. All the rooms were named after famous people who worked in Barcelona (we saw Picasso and Gaudi) which was a nice touch. The internet (and computers) costs an additional 2 euros to use downstairs for the whole stay, which was brilliant. The breakfast was nice as well (great selection, although 6.5 euros a day each was quite pricey, at least to me.) We went to the pastry shop right opposite the nearest metro most days, which was local, cheap and nice.
Echoing others, the staff were helpful and lovely, especially one lady. It was a great stay, was about 70 euros a night for the room, which is excellent for Barcelona. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here if I visited Barcelona again!

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms have an outside tiled space, which each room having part- divided by a sliding sh...

The staff there were very helpful. Rooms were very comfortable. Location was very good. 5mins to the metro and it's also close to the shopping belt. Enjoyed my stay there and definitely will recommend this hotel to my friends . If in Barcelona again, i would love to stay there again

...to find such a perfect hotel at such an amazing price. I have to say I was doubtful it could live up to expectation, but my goodness - it exceeded it! It's a modern bulding in a quiet residental district about 5 mins from the metro. A full range of rooms, singles, twins and doubles. I had a super single at the front of the building. The bed was very good, lovely linen and a good bathroom with roomy shower and proper glasses for drinking water. The room was bright and clean, not huge but sufficient. A very good AC system, much quieter than normal. The breakfast was great value by hotel standards and is served in the basement where there is a small lounge, IT facility and breakfast table. I took my breakfast up to the rooftop area which is equipped with chairs and tables. Staff were charming, full of local information and happy to let me in early and leave late. A fabulous place.

Room Tip: Dont worry, the a/c is very good and the road at the front is virtually pedestrians only.

Firstly let's get the issue of the beds out of the way which seem to plague some of the reviews below. I'm 6'7" (201cm) tall and about 100 kilos. My feet hang over any bed and if it's uncomfortable, my back certainly knows it. For the 6 nights we were there, I slept like a log. True, non-Europeans may find the beds short, but that's how they are in Europe so for me there was nothing unexpected.

Secondly, location. Great! Metro 2 minutes walk round the corner, a main train station (that goes to and from airport), 5 minutes walk, and if you feel like it you can walk into the centre of town in about 30 minutes (but then I have giant legs so everything seems quicker :-) ). Metro gets you into the centre in about 10 minutes. Don't be put off with where it appears on the map.

Staff - brilliant and helpful. We need an electric adaptor, they had one to hand. Any questions you had they could help you with.

Hotel - think a better Ibis. Nicer decor. True rooms are sparse, but it has everything you want when you spend most of your item exploring the city. Shower, air con and the aforementioned bed. Couldn't fault it. Wifi was free. We didn't have breakfast - tend to eat out wherever we stay and there are plenty of good local tapas bars and coffee places about.

We're planning going back to BCN this year/early 2013 and we know where we will be staying again!

Room Tip: There are only 13 rooms (I think) in the block. I'd go for the top floor again.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012 via mobile

We enjoyed the location of this hostel, as it was right near the Placa de Sants station, which pretty much took you anywhere.

The decor was clean and minimalistic, the bright pops of color in the pillow shams. The rooms are on the...cozy side, but offers enough space for a short stay. Bathrooms are brand new and sparkling clean.

Our only complaint (and this is a MAJOR one) is that the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Like, Princess and the Pea uncomfortable.

If you're looking for a super inexpensive stay, this is a decent option but I'm sure you could find better.

Hello!
First of all, thanks for placing your trust in us!
We really appreciate your opinion and your point of view!
We are really sorry you didn’t like our beds. They are new (they only have one year!), from a known brand in Spain, and classified as high quality. Anyway, we understand that comfort and sleeping habits are totally subjective in each person and that the habits of sleeping cannot be the same for everybody. Thanks again!
Kind regards from Live & dream staff!
