But dubious about using a 'Hostal' as always use hotels, but price difference if over £300 for five nights made me give it a go thanks to positive words from other reviewers. The welcome was warm and the room absolutely spotless. Lovely powerful shower and lots of hot water. Decent hairdryer. Beds comfortable. Thanks to good double glazing the room is v quiet, even though we have one overlooking La Ramblas. It's about half was down ramblas so right in the heart of things and was only 5 mins walk from Placa Catalunia where airport bus stopped. Conclusion. -it's a hotel except it has no bar or lounge...... We didn't try breakfast so can't comment. For those who get up, go out all day and come back for bed it's highly recommended.

Loved this place !! In the middle of Las RAMBLA, but as mentioned in previous reviews, it's very quiet !! Spotlessly clean, friendly staff, and a fast wifi connection, balcony overlooking the RAMBLA, which was real cool !

if go back, We'll stay there again for sure

The location is unbelievable! Right on Las Ramblas, almost in the middle. We were surprised we didn't hear any street noise, however the internal walks are thin so we could hear loud talking and people walking around.

No lift to the first floor so you have to carry your bags up but then there is a lift to go further. Strange entrance from the street with a buzzer to get in. Bit confusing the first time around.

The room itself is basic but clean and new. There is a small TV but we didn't use it and the air conditioning was great! Small bathroom and the exhaust was inadequate. Even with a cold shower it felt like it got hot in there. A small bar fridge would have been good but the staff let us put some medication into their fridge. Wifi was always strong.

The staff were amazing! We had trouble with the airline loosing a bag and they allowed us to call the airline to chase them and even called for us to speak to them in Spanish and try to make more happen! I cannot speak highly enough of the effort they put in for us.

Barcelona is very expensive and this hostel was an excellent price for what you got.

This two star review is not meant as a criticism, just an observation that it is a two star place. You get a small room with a bed and shower (and small tv although I never turned it on to see what was available). The staff is not friendly or helpful but they did hold my luggage until I checked in. Everybody was clean, so they do get credit and it is cheap. The location is right on La Rambla and there is a metro stop right across the street.

Because of the central location, it is very loud late into the night, and not just on weekends. There are also lots of prostitutes that loiter nearby. Next time I am in Barcelona, I would prefer to be in El Born or the Gothic Quarter.
