Description: Monvinic has been founded with the aim of being an international benchmark for the dissemination of wine culture. A pioneering space, created by Sergi Ferrer-Salat, which has opened wide its doors to present an unrivalled selection of wines from all over the world. And, what's more, to explore the how and the why of each bottle. At a time when the number of wine enthusiasts, all keen to appreciate and to learn, is growing apace, Monvinic opens in the city of Barcelona to promote and to encourage this passion. And to do so in a way that is rigorous and respectful, yet at the same time providing an atmosphere that is natural, uninhibited, joyous and outgoing.

“Outstanding wine accessibility with excellent food”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

[note: we ate here as part of a group lunch, so had a set menu and wines]

Monvinic is quite wine-focused, with a wide variety of selections available. If you are visiting Barcelona, you'll likely be most interested in their extensive selection of wines from all over Spain, and especially nearby Penedes and Priorat. The servers are very knowledgeable and can help you make your selection depending on your taste, what you may order for food, etc. There is also a wine shop and (for members only) a wine study room.

The dining room is lovely, lots of light from a rear courtyard. Excellent service. Wide-ranging menu (available in english) and very deftly prepared food. Wide-ranging meaning fish, game and meat selections, but it isn't too long or un-focused.

“Trendy, knowledgeable staff, perfect wine/food pairing”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

My daughter and son in law (aka a wine wizard) suggested we go to Monvinic and my wife and I were glad we did. This is an "experience" type restaurant. In other words you will see dishes that are out of the ordinary and it will be impossible not to find the perfect wine. The dishes we found were well prepared and very fresh. But even if you can't find something on the menu that strikes your discriminating taste buds, tell the waiter what you like and he will be able to offer alternatives. My wife was able to get a great salad as well as a super vegetable rice dish that was not on the menu. Very accommodating staff. We had a most memorable meal.

“A little overhyped?”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

We liked the sleek, slightly over the top design of this bar as well as the deep wine list, which covers most areas and quite a lot of vintages. We haven't been impressed by the staff, which was really pushy, yet rather knowledgeable.

Wines are stored properly but avoid the "by the glass" section: it's quite large but some references are rarely ordered, the whites we picked were flat and seemed to be poured from a bottle opened a couple of days before. Food comes in bite sizes, not what you would expect.

Other than that the place looks amazing and if you know your way around a wine list you'll surely enjoy Monvinic.

“I'd like to say something nice BUT...”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I'd like to give this place a better rating but unfortunately, the indifferent staff did not give me an opportunity to! The staff said that it would be OK to wait for a table by the bar and when a table opened up they offered it to others who had arrived after us. Following this, we were unable to get the attention of the staff at the bar and after 25 minutes of waiting without a drink (or an offer of a drink) we left. Pity too, since we'd come ready to spend up.

“for wine lovers”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

I spend an evening there with a few new friends. After a wine tour during the day, a few of us decided to go to Monvinic to finish the evening. Close to my hotel, great selection of wine by the glass (very good when traveling alone) and friendly and knowledgeable staff who provided great insight on spanish wine. Great night indeed!

Didnt try the restaurant however...just the wine bar...
