“Amazing hotel - unique mix of quality, value and service”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed for five nights in late May. The location is nearly perfect just blocks from the Barcelona Cathedral and right in the midst of the Gotic district. Its an easy walk to virtually anywhere in the city. The hotel itself is very tasteful and well done. A nice modern feel with good comfy amenities. The roof deck and pool are quite pleasant. The rooms are well done although a bit small. And the service is impeccable. All the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. We were incredibly happy with our stay, especially considering the price. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in Barcelona!

We recently came back from a long weekend in Barcelona. We stayed at the Catalonia Catedral, which was a brilliant choice. The hotel has a perfect location, it is very nice, clean and has a nice feeling about it. The breakfast has a good variety of different types of food, ranging from eggs and sausages to very fresh fruit. The staff is nothing short of fantastic, always nice and very helpful. There was especially one thing that really made them stand out. A couple of hours after we had checked out we noticed that we had forgotten cash in an envelope in the room. We went back to the hotel and explained what had happened and they went up to the room to check the situation and a short while later they came back with the envelope. That is a sign of real honesty from all of the staff. We will definitely be back to this excellent hotel the next time we are in Barcelona.

My friend & I stayed for 3 days and loved the location. It was quiet, yet so close to everything! Easy to get to the Placa de Catalunya, the Catedral, etc.

Marc, Adrian and Maite were extremely helpful and answered all our questions. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room and they gave us one on the third floor facing the inner courtyard.

Nearly did not review this hotel following our recent visit since so many others have sung its praises, but it really deserves the continued support.

We stayed here recently for a special 5 night break to re-visit Barcelona after our last excursion there nearly 6 years ago. We had previously stayed at Hotel Colon, just around the corner but this time chose Catalonia Catedral based on the excellent reviews and reports of beds actually being comfortable - and they were! In fact, the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed, we can remember, so that is in favour for a start!

In addition, as others have reported, the staff are genuine and work hard to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. With the modern presentation of the hotel, it could so easily appear to be a bit soulless, but this is not the case - we quickly settled in and particularly enjoyed our time out on the small but very pleasant terrace, sipping coffee or their excellent sangria in between our daily outings.

In addition to this hotel's excellent location, if you can stretch to considering the private enclosed terrace off your room, you will really feel the benefit of having your own space - worth it!

Staff were as helpful as they could be and this does make a difference - apologies to Alex for remarking on him taking his jacket off and also thanks for recommending a couple of highly remarkable restaurants that were not on the list! Would we go back to Catalonia Catedral - the answer is yes!

Friendly and helpful staff, super clean and updated rooms. Beautiful location close to the Las Rambas and other Gothic areas. Local eateries and Tapas bars were excellent. We will come back during over next visit to Barcelona.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2012 and cause I am rather lazy have only just got round to writing this review. I sayed there with my boyfriend for 3 days on a city break. I did all my checks and this one checked out ok on Trip advisor so I booked it through Agoda (got a great price). I must say, Barcelone is lovley. Got a Monach flight to airport, then got a local bus (very cheep) directly outside airport to Catalonia, then walked to hotel from there. We got slightly lost, but a local saw us in distress and directed us to our hotel!, very kind. We were greated warmly by 2 men who spoke great english, and were very well mannered. The hotel was stylish and appeared very airy. When I saw the room I was dissappointed, it was very small, no view at all, and no balcony of any kind so there was no escape and it felt somewhat clostrophobic, But it was very clean and tended to by maids regularly. There was a safe if the room, but staff very trustworthy and we often left valubles lying around (not cash of course we not daft). There is a pool on the roof, its very small, but nice and clean. To be honest we were lucky to get a pool at all, as a lot of inner city hotels in Barcelona do not have them. Did not have food there just room only, drinks were a bit pricy, but the surrounding bars are lovely and everyone was so nice, polite and repspectful. There is so much to see. Get the tube (1 min from hotel) and go see that crazy church that has taken a million years to build, it will blow your mind, even if you dont like architecture youll love it!.). In a nut shell, Hotel Catalonia is excellently located for everything, staff very friendly and professional, hotel very clean and modern, and the rooms very quiet (but too small for me). I would go back, but in a different room.

Room Tip: Beg for one with a balcony and pay extra if you can afford it.
