“Great City Location”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

After reading other trip advisor reviews it was with great trepidation that myself and husband set off on our first trip to Barcelona. We encountered there extremely friendly staff, a nice room on the 6th floor complete with modern bathroom and balcony. The continental breakfast was much the same as we have had in many European countries and the location in the gothic quarter was superb. Close by were Barcelona Cathedral, the Picasso Museum and La Rambla as well as the beaches and harbour of Barcelona. I did wonder if I was staying at the same hotel as the other reviewers. I have to agree that tea and coffee should be available as standard in this day and age but we solved the problem as we have done in the past with a travel kettle. The rumble of the metro was a little irritating but not the fault of the hotel. The room was cleaned daily to a very high standard and a maintenance check was carried out by a very polite staff member even though we had not complained about anything being wrong. The reception staff were great when we had a problem with the taxi company we had booked and solved the matter quickly and efficiently. A very happy stay was had by both of us.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 6th floor so the rumble of the metro was not too bad. Traffic noise we did not not...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. it was ok but not as good as we expected having stayed in other 4 star hotels in Barcelona before. I askd fot a quiet room which we got at the back of the hotel, no view but it was very quiet. Small room but ok and bathroom very modern. The reception staff and bell boy were fantastic they couldnt do enough for you, but the breakfast was very poor, bread not very fresh and very basic otherwise and the waitress was a bit rude and rushing us.

Room Tip: If you want quiet room with no view ask for it but the rooms on the front will have a better outlook...

A 3 night stay in Barcelona was made ever more impressive by this hotel. Located off one of Barcelona's busier main roads, road noise for some might prove a little too much. However, for someone who was unconcerned by this as I was, the hotel will not fail to satisfy your every need. The double room I had located on the front part of the hotel overlooking the road was spacious and clean. Catching the eye in particular was the impressive shower with a mosaic stone effect flooring. A 3 minute walk away from the shipping port, 5 (or so) minutes from the Las Ramblas and 1 minute from El Born with plenty of bars and restaurants, you couldn't wish for a better city break location.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel overlook the road which is good for people watching, otherwise a vie...

Location is great, six minutes walk from heart of Gotic Quarter. Four minutes from metro.
On the other side of the street el Born with huge amount of bars, tapas - two minutes walk.
The hotel seem to be new. The rooms are very clean with modern design. I recommend to take the top floor due to metro line that near the hotel.
Breakfast is not diverse for this hotel level but it enough .

Room Tip: Top floor, at the back - very quite room

My partner and I have returned from a 4 night stay in the Barcelona Hotel Colonial. The hotel is located in the gothic quarter of Barcelona, within easy walking distance of Las Ramblas and harbour etc. We stayed in room 408 which was located to the front of the hotel on the 4th floor. The room was very clean and modern and also had its own balcony. Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay in this hotel again if we return to Barcelona!

Over the four days we stayed at this hotel, everything was very good. Breakfast was good, and you had a lot of different choices. Staff were friendly and helpful. House keeping was great, and rooms were very clean. Had great nights sleep, even although we were front of hotel on 4th floor, didn't have any disturbances, loud traffic noises etc.

We would recommend this hotel for a good short break stay in Barcelona and we hope to visit again!!

Thank you for a lovely experience.

We stayed at the colonial as a couple from 5th to 11th April . The first thing to comment on is its location being 5 min walk from the Marina and 10 minutes from Las Ramblas. On arrival we where checked in within minutes by a very pleasant receptionist. We were allocated in room 502 being on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel, this was ideal as the hotel is on a very busy road. The room was adequate in size and appeared to have been recently refurbished, the be must have comfortable as we slept very well. Going back to the reception we found all the staff to be most pleasant and helpful. The Hotel is ideally placed to either walk or if needed get the Metro or tourist buses to plenty of local sights, I would recommend buying a 2 day pass for the tourist bus and do one route one day and the other the next it will give more time to visit the many sights.
This was our first visit to Barcelona and we shall return for sure and will stay at the colonial again.

Room Tip: Get room high up at the back of hotel to avoid traffic noise, no real view but we only slept in the...
