“One of the Best hotels EVER!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

I am completely sincere when I say that this experience at W Hotel Barcelona was one of the best ones I've ever had. The design of the hotel itself is at the same time very stylish, welcoming, and screams luxury! I was there with my girlfriend and we had an amazing time. We had a stunning view from the 15th floor facing the ocean and part of the city. The kingsize bed was very comfortable, and the touch of the rain shower in the bathroom was an unexpected surprise :)

We were lucky to be there on a Sunday night where W Barcelona has a private party next to the pool and the bar as well as one on the 26th floor! A really fun night I must say.

The service was great thanks to Valentina Gonzalez and Claudia Acosta. We will definitely be coming back at least once a year :)

We stayed at the W Barcelona at the end of a Mediterranean Cruise. You can see this hotel from all over Barcelona- it sits right on the water at the end of the beach.

We had a nice room that overlooked the water- beautiful view - the bed faces out floor to ceiling windows! Just a word of caution - our bed was horribly uncomfortable and my husband and I both did not sleep great. Also- not a place for modesty. The toilet is enclosed in the actual bedroom with tinted glass windows. I don't know how I would have felt sharing the room with anyone but my husband!

We are both in our 50s - the hotel is quite hip! The bar was hopping and there was always alot going on.

Another caution- we are runners and loved the location. But the walk into town is FAR. It is probably a mile and a half away from the Christopher Columbus statue- so if you are looking for a centrally located hotel this is definitely not it. However, the beach is beautiful and we found many great restaurants looking over the water at the base of the W.

I travelled in August 2012 to Barcelona with some friends. I am from Mexico, and seeing the false reputation mexicans have worldwide, we got to W with the thought that we would be treated as such. But the people were very nice from when we got there until we left. The building is amazing, very modern, attractive, and clean.
The location is excellent. A nice street is walking distance. If you don´t want to walk, taxis are close by the entrance, and are not expensive.
My only two complaints are the bathrooms... which are almost see-through (no privacy) and a lot of noise, which you can expect from a hotel that is as busy as this one.
The hotel screams out "party" as soon as you walk in, which isn´t bad! I am not much of a party person, but it was still fun.
Over all, I would recommend this hotel, it is a great experience!!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. As a 60 something couple we were not too sure what to expect as reviews varied so much.- but we needn't have worried! The staff were so pleasant and helpful and even though we we on a 'last minute deal ' we were able to upgrade our floor 2 room to one on floor 21( a good reason to go out of season when the hotel is not full). The views were amazing over the port area where the cruise liners docked. (take binoculars if you have them!)After 3 inights we still hadn't worked out all the light switches!! Not sure about the frosted glass doors between the toilet, shower and bedroom though.
Although there is a lounge bar and night club on level 26 we heard nothing in our room.
Food and drink is very expensive in the hotel but there are several ars and restaurants on the beach right next to the hotel. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the beach each morning before setting off on our day's sightseeing.
The walk to the nearest Metro stop takes about 20mins along the seafront and beside the marina - we felt safe at all times.
Barcelona as expected was hot, crowded and noisy so it was lovely to return to the beach at the end of each exhausting day and to the cool spacious room with a view (and BBC TV for the news!)
The beach was cleaned each evening and lifeguards were on duty during the day.It didn't bother us but there was some nude sunbathing !!

Room Tip: Get a room as high as possible. The rooms facing the port are probably less likely to be noisy as th...

Stayed here July 2012! Arrived 10:30am-no shower facilities offered even though showers just in basement! We had 3 rooms-2 immaculate & ours very dusty-unpleasant smell in room-not exactly 5*! Rectified once mentioned to Reception! No turndown service-all the 5* hotels we've stayed in before have this service!
Restaurants on beach front amazing, especially 'The Salt'...

The cost is very high, yes the views are great, we were upgraded which was lovely but the room had problems. The TV wouldn't stay on without the lights, we had to call maintenance several times, we had dry cleaning done with spots which were scrubbed around and left white areas ruining our clothes. The staff seemed very inexperienced, young and cute but not knowledgeable or professional. The pillar in our room had boogers smeared on it, no joke! And I'm sure if we had a black light it would be super frightening, there were "stains and spills" on walls. you pay so much for the room yet wifi is not included, everyone hawks in the lobby to use it. Brunch is great but very expensive, being isolated its more effort to go local.
As usual the W beds are the best! We love bliss products as well.
We had a weird experience one night, the do not disturb sign was on the door, the door chimed, my husband answered thinking it was maintenance again, he couldn't see anyone through peep hole, a guy came with roller luggage asking what we wanted, he quickly realized it was the wrong room, we watched and he went to the room across the hall also with a do not disturb sign, he was quickly in and out, def selling "things" so don't count on any security on your floor and don't open that door. We felt too on display at the pool, the beach is good and nice to have in a city.
It was an odd stay, I'd opt for in the city a few days and head for the costs brava for beach and sun if you can, if not and your craving beach it's good.

Room Tip: I think all have great views, depends on how much you'll be there, we liked seeing city over pur...

This hotel is a luxury experience. The gym, with its beautiful wood floors, the Bliss Spa and the outdoor pool with its fabulous fruity cocktails spell out L E I S U R E, baby. I strutted around the the amenities in this hotel with the soundtrack to the Scarface montage in my head. Okay, for me it was Spain and not Miami, and okay the movie is about the rise of a drug lord and not really similar to my trip to Barcelona, but you get the idea.

The settee by the window in our 16th Floor, sea view room made it very hard to leave our room, which not huge but arranged in a way that felt vast. The staff exude warmth, competence, and character. And there's a hint of humour - the cleaning staff are called -room restyling. Classic.
