“Almost 5 star, Great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

Suites Avenue is a Derby hotel, focus is Spain, UK, France. The location in Barcelona is fabulous, a short walk to The Born and Old Town. Bike rentals around the corner. Eat on gorgeous Calle Catalunya one blosk over and skip the restaurants on P de Gracia.
The apt. I rented was sleek, really well designed, high-end, floor to ceiling windows in bedroom and livingroom (with black-out drop shades). Kitchen was well equipped and modern, including dishwasher and a wine cooler. Bathroom was grey slate and milk-glass partitions, large tub and shower. (only pause is lighting in bathroom is a little insufficient). Splurge on the rooms with full terrace in front of building. Views of Barcelona were memorable.
Housekeeping was unobtrusive and efficient, although you are on your own for cleaning what is used in the kitchen area. Rooms are three per side and have a door that closes to off to public areas in the evening and muffle the elevator noise. Like I said, very intelligent design.
Rooftop is awesome space and great for pre-dinner drinks. (BYO) Small soaking pool with waterfall, great views. No F&B service to speak of, these are apartments, does not feel like a hotel. Gym advertised is overlooked by most, it is three pieces of equipment and way too public a space for a real workout. The artwork is very zen and compliments the space nicely.

Lobby is small and busy. The desk people singular at all times, a one man band. So, be prepared to wait if they are busy, there are frequent bottlenecks with people vying for their attention. They are pleasantly efficient and will attempt to help with requests and are impressively multi-lingual. Hotel is perfectly located. Will stay here again and again.

Room Tip: Go for the terrace.

We have had 5 nights in the penthouse suite here. We would definitely return. The view from our balcony was priceless. The sun shines on you all morning and in the evening it is a haven after a long day. The overall impression of the apartment and the building is one of luxury. I do believe that it could be made better if there was somebody available to show you to your apartment. The lighting is difficult to master, there is an intercom inside the door which you would never understand how to use, even the coffee maker is not intuitive to use without help or an instruction book. I could go on. I would rather they charged a few euros more and gave you enough dishwasher tablets to last your whole stay, rather than one days worth.
The points above are minor but there are two things that do need to be changed in a €300 plus a night apartment. Firstly, there is no dedicated place for a lady to dry her hair or put makeup on. There is only one badly lit mirror in the bathroom for the entire apartment, and secondly the pillows are poor quality. I would expect to find them in a motel. I hope I have kept this criticism in context as we had a great time here and would not want to put anybody off staying here.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the penthouse.

The location of the hotel is superb! Close to City Open Top bus tour bus stops which we used extensively. The roof top views are amazing opposite a Gaudi house with those strange chimneys. The apartment is well-equipped but lacking in clear English instructions. Took ages to work out how to use the electrical equipment and two days to figure out that the reason there were no blinds to cover big windows was because there was an external electric operated shutter!
The staff were helpful, friendly and courteous. The cleaning staff visited daily with fresh towels. The lift could be tricky for those with no head for heights being exposed on three sides. All in all this is an excellent hotel in a great location. Roof top pool is a small cold plunge pool.

Room Tip: Electric shutters for the windows Instructions not available - more instruction and guidance would...

Just back from a 2 night stay in a Deluxe Pedrara View 2 bed 2 bath apartment, overlooking La Pedrara.

Delighted with bedroom space and storage. Each bedroom had an en suite bathroom or shower room with toilet doors for privacy. Master bathroom suite without door to bathroom but shower and toilet have doors within so not as open plan as some european bathrooms - even couples like a bit of privacy and we were pleasantly surprised and delighted. In addition both bedrooms have doors to the entrance hallway beyond. Bedrooms are not street-side so very quiet for sleeping. We had excellent, quiet nights sleep.

Fabulous well-equipped kitchen. Big fridge and wine chiller - pre-filled with mini-bar prices if you want something immediately. Or head to local supermarket and buy your own things. Nespresso coffee maker if you want to take along your own supplies. Was delighted to find a kettle also, such a rarity in Spain!

Comfortable sitting room with English language news channels on TV. Free wi-fi was very good, enough for keeping in touch certainly. Lovely big windows and plenty of natural daylight. Interesting street location but fab double glazing - very bustling with door open. Tiny front balcony but still pleasant to seat one person with a glass of cava watching La Pedrara view and street scenes. Big roof-top terrace for more comfortable outside space and hanging out after a busy day.

We took the tourist bus and bought tickets at the hotel (staff all excellent and helpful) with a Euro 2 discount per adult. Really recommend the bus tour - excellent. Bus stop right outside Pedrara.

We were in Barcalona for a Saturday night wedding and got back to the apartment at 4.30am Sunday morning and were buzzed straight in from the street intercom by the reception man. Tip-toed back to our apartment but we never heard anyone else coming and going through our stay so think the sound-proofing is pretty good here.

Not the cheapest in Barcelona but certainly spacious, comfortable, well equipped and located so if the budget permits we would recommend checking them out. We'd go back for sure.

Room Tip: high floor front for Pedrara views. Rear rooms have bigger terraces with table

I don't know why anyone would stay at a "regular" hotel when a gorgeous home away from home like this is available in Barcelona. And to be greeted each day by an enthusiastic "Hola!" from the staff (especially Hugo) made it all the more inviting. The apartment was beautiful and includes a Nespresso machine as well as a small combination washer/dryer in case you run out of clean underwear as I was about to do. Finally the view from the rooftop pool area is "to die for."

All been said by others below. We stayed for 4 nights and it was perfectly located for us. The staff were excellent - both front desk and the ones working in the background. Top location for everything if you don't mind 20 minute walks. We even walked back from Guill Park and it was not a problem - saw how the locals lived. Our favourite markets, Santa Caterina, also within walking distance. Metro Is right there and taxi rank so no problem getting around. Slight murmur from the metro but not an issue. Nice coffee in the apartment but shame they charge for that but hey "this is Catalonia". We were on the road side facing La Padera - great ambience.

We traveled to Barcelona from the U.S. to visit our daughters and we were looking for a comfortable place to stay which had a separate living area to enjoy "catching up" on their lives and careers in Spain. Suites Avenue was perfect and was exactly what we were hoping for! Being from a small town, we are used to a quiet place and this hotel provided the perfect place to rest and get away from the energy of the city, but at the same time it was located in a great location to get anyplace you wanted to go very easily. Several metro stops are a few blocks away and the neighborhood is full of shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful and this will be the first place we'd book if we return to Barcelona. The only very minor criticisms I have is that there is no clock in the bedroom and tissues are lacking.

Room Tip: We loved room 62 as it had a huge balcony overlooking the courtyard in the back of the hotel. Even...
